Meghan Markle Opens Up About Feeling Unsupported as King Charles Backed Princess Kate but Denied Her and Harry’s Dream Life

In a recent interview, Meghan Markle shared her feelings of isolation and frustration over King Charles’s decision to support Princess Kate while refusing to back her and Prince Harry’s aspirations. This revelation, detailed in Robert Jobson’s book, “Our King: Charles III — The Man and the Monarch Revealed,” highlights the financial and emotional challenges faced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

In early 2018, Prince Charles informed Prince Harry that he could not afford to provide financial support for both him and Meghan Markle, as well as Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and their young family. This decision left Harry increasingly frustrated, especially as the future King explained that his annual earnings from the Duchy of Cornwall could not stretch to cover everyone.

These insights align with Harry’s grievances expressed in his memoir, “Spare,” where he detailed his struggles to earn enough to support his family. Harry’s frustration was compounded by his legal battle to retain taxpayer-funded security, which he lost in the High Court. Documents from the case revealed his desperation to understand who authorized the removal of his security, a decision made four years prior.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departure from the United Kingdom in early 2020, known as “Megxit,” has been a topic of extensive debate. While government-funded royal security is typically reserved for senior royals who work for or receive funding from the Sovereign Grant, Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave their royal duties meant they no longer met these criteria.

In February 2020, Harry filed a claim against the British Home Office over the withdrawal of their security, defending his actions in a statement released last December. He expressed his sorrow over feeling forced to step back from their royal roles and leave the country. Harry emphasized the importance of the UK in his heritage and his desire for his children to feel at home there, despite their current residence in the United States.

This situation underscores the broader challenges faced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they navigated their roles within and outside the royal family, highlighting the emotional and financial strains that have accompanied their decisions.
