Could Lady Death and Hela Hold the Key to Agatha’s Explosive MCU Comeback?

Agatha All Along is a recent popular show coming from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Apart from featuring the fascinating Aubrey Plaza in a powerful performance as Lady Death i.e. the personification of Death, Agatha All Along has also added fuel to a long-running fan theory hinting at a hitherto unforeseen connection between Lady Death and Hela.

This theory, propagated partly by the narrative of Agatha All Along, holds immense potential for the future of Lady Death in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A redditor recently came forward with the theory that Lady Death is indeed the mother of Hela. This theory draws its strength from the fact that Hela is the Goddess of Death and shares an intrinsic connection with Death itself. Hela was portrayed for the first time in the MCU by actress Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok. The film didn’t explicitly mention the name of Hela’s mother, just mentioning that she is Odin’s first-born and Thor’s half-sister.

Agatha All Along: What’s the connection between Lady Death and Hela?

One of the strong points of Agatha All Along, among the others, is the memorable performance by Aubrey Plaza. She makes an initial appearance on the Marvel show as Green Witch Rio Vidal, before eventually showing her true colors as the personification of Death. This is the first time that Lady Death is introduced in the MCU and therefore the occasion is significant.

As per Marvel Comics lore, Lady Death has been romantically involved with such iconic characters as Deadpool and Thanos in the past. However, her most enduring romance has been with the character of Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn.

However, it is a known fact that Lady Death has been around since long before Agatha Harkness came into being. It is interesting to note that Hela had once mentioned that Odin’s wife and Thor’s mother Frigga isn’t her mother, despite she being Thor’s half-sister.

This leaves the door open for us to speculate about a possible relationship between Odin and Lady Death, which could have taken place while Odik was involved in restoring order through the Nine Realms.

A redditor by the name of El_Presidente 376 recently pointed out the theory that Lady Death could be, after all, the mother of Hela. The theory stated:

“So now we know Frigga isn’t Hela’s mother, and thing about Hela’s mother is she is not really ever mentioned or anything like that, so my theory is that it’s actually Death herself, so here is the thing, i’m not saying they did usual way of making a child like how humans do instead Death might have made Hela from herself and Odin, basically we already saw children of cosmic beings like Love being powered by Eternity after her ressurection (And she still hasn’t appeared to this day 3 years later),”

and then continued,

“plus there is also their similar looks, Death has black hair, Hela has black hair, Death is a green witch and wears green, Hela wears green, Death has a pale skin and looks of a beautiful woman, Hela has a pale skin and looks of a beautiful woman, so what do you think, could Hela actually be creation of Death and Odin?”

What does the future hold for Lady Death in the MCU?

Although there’s no official confirmation, the above-mentioned connection between Hela and Lady Death creates a potential for the two to appear prominently in the next Thor movie. As it is, Agatha All Along has already established Lady Death to be a formidable character that merits further exploration in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Agatha All Along is streaming on Disney+.
