Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have donated to a charity supporting teenage girls affected by the Los Angeles wildfires, whilst facing potential evacuation from their own £23million Montecito mansion due to the ongoing wildfires in California.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Foundation has supported the Altadena Girls Fire Recovery Fund, a charity initiative launched by 14-year-old Avery Colvert.
The donation comes as the couple’s California home faces threats from approaching wildfires. Montecito is now under a red flag warning due to strong Santa Ana winds.
The charity gave a “special thanks” to the Archewell Foundation on Instagram, prompting royal fans to follow suit with their donations.

The charity’s website explains its mission is “to restore normalcy for the teenage victims affected by this unfortunate event.”
It continues: “Avery, witnessing the profound impact on her friends and schoolmates, has embarked on this mission to provide essentials that are crucial for them to feel like themselves again.”
The initiative focuses on gathering clothes, personal items, and beauty and hair care products for affected teenagers.
“By contributing, you help us fund the necessary items that bring smiles back to our teenagers’ faces and a sense of normalcy back to their lives,” the charity notes, emphasising their commitment to long-term support.
Wildfires have ravaged parts of LA
The fundraiser has already inspired others to contribute, with one Australian supporter writing: “If Harry and Meghan give the seal of approval then so do I.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been actively supporting wildfire relief efforts, recently visiting a food bank at the Pasadena Convention Centre.
The couple were seen hugging José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen, which provides free hot meals to the public and emergency crews.
Dressed in a light blue shirt and baseball cap, Meghan spoke with Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, whilst Harry donned a black cap and polo shirt.

“They really buoyed the spirits of the first responders”, said Mayor Gordo. “We visited the command post at the Rose Bowl and people were very happy to see them.”
The Sussexes have also opened their Montecito home to friends and loved ones who have been forced to evacuate.
The deadly fires have already claimed 25 lives and burned more than 40,000 acres across LA, forcing hundreds of thousands to evacuate.
Firefighters are battling four active blazes, including the massive Palisades Fire which has burned more than 23,000 acres and is only 14 per cent contained.

Montecito Fire has warned that strong Santa Ana winds could cause fires to “grow rapidly” and “behave erratically”, with hurricane-force winds forecast to reach up to 70mph.
The red flag warning currently affects the majority of southern California, from Ventura County through to San Diego County.
More than 12,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed, including homes and businesses across the region.
