Zara Tindall was a surprising source of a barbed comment aimed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, with the former Olympian allegedly letting rip at the couple during Princess Eugenie’s wedding.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have faced their fair share of criticism over the years, but a surprising source of a sharp comment was Zara Tindall.
Often seen as a potential peacemaker between the feuding Wales and Sussex branches of the Royal family, Zara is not known for having any issues with Harry and Meghan.
However, this didn’t prevent the former Olympian from reportedly making a stinging remark towards Harry at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding. The couple tied the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, the same venue where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were married just five months prior.
During the ceremony, Zara, seated next to her ex-rugby player husband Mike Tindall, turned to the California-based pair. Observing the subdued atmosphere at Princess Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank’s nuptials, Zara directed a 10-word jibe at Harry and Meghan.
“It’s very quiet compared to the screaming at your wedding”, she allegedly said, according to a lip reader. Taken aback by the comment, Harry seemed to respond: “Mine?”
Zara’s reference to ‘screaming’ may have been an allusion to Bishop Michael Curry’s speech at Harry and Meghan’s wedding, reports the Express.
Bishop Curry’s traditional American sermon delivery was met with both praise and criticism. The Very Reverend Trevor Beeson commented on the 14-minute sermon, stating: “The sermon was, I believe, seriously misjudged and distorted what was otherwise a delightful and moving occasion.”
Meanwhile, the Archbishop of Canterbury described the sermon as “fantastic”.
Zara Tindall married former rugby player Mike back in 2011. The royal couple have since gone on to have three children – Mia, Lena and Lucas – and the family of five live together at their lavish Gatcombe Park home in the heart of the Cotswolds.
