“You’re going to have to deal with it”: Even a $10,000,000 Paycheck Couldn’t Convince Tom Holland to Do One Thing in Spider-Man: No Way HomeTom Holland really did set his foot down on this one.

Tom Holland really did set his foot down on this one.

spider-man: no way home

Of all the films in the Spider-Man trilogy that Tom Holland starred in, Spider-Man: No Way Home was by far the most loved by fans. While the film’s remarkable plotline was one thing, the actor’s brilliantly balanced performance further added stars to the already star-studded masterpiece. That said, a majority of the credit for its success goes to none other than Holland himself.

But what many fans don’t know is that this film also lacked one element that was originally planned to be included in it. In fact, despite being one of the important features of Peter Parker’s appearance in the movie, Holland put his foot down and was stuck on not doing it until the studios agreed to his demand. And, surprisingly enough, the studios did end up yielding to him!

Tom Holland Was Required To Make This One Change For No Way Home

Since the events of 2021’s No Way Home were set right after the events that took place in the previous installment (i.e. 2019’s Far From Home), there was a massive deal about one major factor about Tom Holland‘s physical appearance: His hairstyle.

Ironically enough, at the time, the actor was sporting a much more in-vogue hairstyle than what the “a bit of a loser” Peter Parker sports in the movies. This was because he was also working on 2022’s Uncharted during this very period.

That said, the filmmakers chose a more rational approach to making his hairdo more like his friendly neighborhood superhero: A wig. In an interview with Esquire, Holland shared the same, saying:

My hair in Uncharted is much cooler. I have cool shaved sides and it’s slick at the back, and that’s not very Peter Parker. He’s a bit of a loser. So they put this wig on me that was just around the sides.

However, while he was okay with playing the slight loser character (Peter Parker) for the big screen, Holland wasn’t okay with mimicking the same hairstyle as him — even if it meant just wearing a wig, and that, too, only during the shoot.

And thus, for the first time in his life, he actually put his foot down for the same.

Tom Holland Refused to Comply to This One Requirement

According to what he shared during the same interview, Holland was anything but okay with wearing that wig, despite the $10 million paycheck he was going to earn for that film. That being said, he made sure to let his point of view known and adhered to by the higher-ups.

As he revealed during the same interview:

For the first time in my life, I put my foot down as the leading actor and was like, ‘I’m not f—ing wearing that wig. You can just . . . I’m going to have shorter hair and you’re going to have to deal with it.’

Although it may have been the first time he decided to raise his voice against stuff that he wasn’t willing to do, Holland’s voice was bold enough to be heard, and thus, he was allowed to sport the hairstyle he so desperately wanted in the movie. One win for cheeky Holland.
