Here is how DeMayo fulfilled his promise to disgruntled X-Men ‘97 fans.

Beau DeMayo Delivers One of the Best Wolverine Moments in X-Men ‘97 Episode 8

In April 2024, fans questioned X-Men ‘97 creator Beau DeMayo about the lack of action for Wolverine in the first season of the animated revival of the classic 90s series. Responding to a fan question on X, DeMayo stated that he could answer the question without spoiling the final three episodes of the first season.

The eighth episode of the series has finally revealed why DeMayo gave such a cryptic response to the fans disgruntled by Wolverine getting sidelined in the series. In the episode, the X-Mansion is attacked by an army of Prime Sentinels and is burned to the ground with Rogue stuck inside.

However, Wolverine shows up to save her in what is arguably the best action moment for the character so far in the series. After the episode was released, DeMayo took to X to finally put to rest the concerns of fans worried about Wolverine not getting a moment to shine in the first season. He tweeted:

As a result, DeMayo’s words and the events of the latest episode confirm that there were always plans to bring Wolverine into the spotlight when it was required the most. Wolverine’s brutal fight and rescue sequence in the episode proves why he deserves the status of X-Men’s most dependable member and that status has finally been restored.
