“You could’ve been somebody”: Fans Are Disappointed With Chris Evans For Following the Footsteps of Ryan Reynolds After Retiring From MCU

Recently, fans have been discussing the direction that Chris Evans is taking his career, wondering if he is wasting his potential as a talented actor.

Chris Evans is one of the most respected and successful actors of all time. He has become one of the most recognized faces after starring as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After he walked away from the franchise, Evans had a universe of possibilities. He had fame, resources, and connections to build any kind of career that he wanted.

However, the actor went down quite a disappointing road. So much so, that fans were extremely upset when the poster for his recent film was released. Even went as far as to say that he is following in the path of Ryan Reynolds.

Fans Are Not Hap

Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans left the MCU together. However, their career trajectories have been concerningly opposite from each other. Where Downey focused more on character-driven roles and ended up winning an Oscar for it, Evans has taken a different path. This was perfectly reflected in his upcoming film.

Recently, the actor’s poster for Red One was released, and fans were not happy in the slightest. One fan went on quite a rant, talking about how the actor is chasing similar roles over and over, even though they are not working for his career. Pointing out that before leaving the MCU, he was a part of several interesting and good projects.

However, now they do not feel the same way. From the failures of Ghosted, and Pain Hustlers, audiences feel extreme disappointment at the fact that someone as talented as Evans is wasting his potential chasing two-dimensional roles.

Chris Evans and the Ryan Reynolds Effect

Although Ryan Reynolds has gained a lot of success through his role as Deadpool, fans have begun to recognize him for one negative thing. It has become a well-known fact that the actor constantly plays similar, sunshine characters in every film that he is a part of.

Regardless of the genre, his characters lack a certain kind of depth and always turn any interaction into comedy, with his quips and witty humor. While this worked quite well for a few films, it became very repetitive very quickly.

Upon seeing the poster for Red One, fans pointed out that Chris Evans has been going down a similar path as Reynolds. Several films showcase his potential as an actor, ranging from GiftedDefending Jacob, to Knives Out, and even Puncture and Snowpiercer.

Chris Evans returned as Human Torch

With all that he has to offer to the film industry, fans cannot help but be frustrated to see him stuck in one genre, playing roles that require him to be silly and goofy rather than showcase the talent he has.
