New MCU fan art imagines an X-Men solo movie that was never produced by 20th Century Fox, but would have developed one underused superhero.
While Storm was one of the most neglected heroes in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise, new MCU fan art imagines the powerful mutant leading her own Marvel Studios-produced solo movie. Halle Berry brought Storm into live-action in 2000’s X-Men, while Alexandra Shipp took over the role in the revised timeline, from 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse onward. Ororo Munroe’s Storm was the first major female character of African descent in any American comic, and is widely regarded as the most important female hero in Marvel Comics, making her a clear candidate to be reinvented when Marvel Studios debuts the MCU’s official X-Men.
Even though Storm was featured in almost every X-Men movie produced by 20th Century Fox, she never really got the attention she deserved as one of Marvel Comics’ most notable and powerful female characters. This can change in the MCU, potentially with the development of a Storm-focused solo movie, which has been imagined in a stunning fan poster shared by Kobe Abdo.
Cleverly named The Calm, this theoretical solo movie for Storm has been imagined as being directed by Ryan Coogler, who helms the MCU’s Black Panther franchise, with Storm’s costume leaning more heavily on her African roots and backstory.
Why Ryan Coogler Is The Perfect Director For A Storm MCU Movie
Currently, Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed any upcoming projects featuring the various members of the new X-Men team, other than the MCU’s official X-Men reboot. Even so, it can be assumed that several projects have been planned to reintroduce Marvel Comics’ mutant heroes to the MCU’s audiences, following the dissolution of Fox’s X-Men franchise. This could finally provide Storm with her time in the spotlight, making her a main character rather than the supporting hero she was depicted as by Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp, and a future solo MCU movie for Storm is the best chance for this to happen.
The Calm fan poster imagines Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Ryan Coogler as the director, which makes complete sense given Storm’s connection to the Black Panther and Wakanda in Marvel Comics. Storm and T’Challa’s Black Panther comprised one of Marvel Comics’ most iconic married couples between 2006 and 2012. Despite their annulment, Storm’s ties to the Black Panther and the nation of Wakanda make Ryan Coogler the best choice to lead her solo MCU debut. Since Coogler has signed on to create many upcoming projects for Marvel Studios, a movie focused on Storm could be one of them.
