X-Men ’97 might be looking to bring back a major villain who is key to bringing Remy back.
This article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97.
X-Men ’97‘s Episode 9 saw Wolverine and Magneto play out one of their most brutal battles from the comics, which ended with Magneto ripping out the adamantium from Wolverine’s skeleton, leaving him on the brink of death. While this might be bringing a world of hurt to the character, the trajectory that is being set for the story might be great news for those who miss the X-Men’s resident Cajun.

Remy LeBeau tragically lost his life during the Sentinel assault on Genosha, which claimed the lives of a significant amount of mutants. In the most recent episode of the show, Wolverine found himself similarly indisposed after Magneto crippled the elder mutant. Given that these two characters become Horsemen of Apocalypse, a theory suggests it is quite possible it is something X-Men 97 is setting up.
Apocalypse could resurrect Gambit in X-Men ’97 Season 2
A.J. LoCascio’s Gambit in X-Men ’97
Episodes of X-Men ’97 have routinely ended on cliffhangers, with each installment outperforming the one that came before. This season is solely focused on taking down Bastion, who has served as a catalyst for all the mutant woes this season has seen. Be it the deaths of Genosha or the personal tragedies faced by the likes of Cyclops and Jean, Bastion was behind them in some capacity, and will surely be the main battle of the great finale of X-Men ’97.
However, as we advance into Season 2, a theory suggests that Apocalypse might find his way to Earth to fight the X-Men, which will inadvertently result in him resurrecting Gambit and restoring Wolverine’s Adamantium skeleton. This would allow the character to make his return to the show like he did in the comics, but serve as a member of Apocalypse’s entourage, the Horsemen of Apocalypse.
Wolverine might receive his Adamantium skeleton from Apocalypse as well
Wolverine in X-Men ’97
After Magneto rips Wolverine’s Adamantium out, the character sees his healing over-taxed, which puts the character out of the running to be on the X-Men. His increasingly feral nature makes him appear more beastly, as his healing factor is no longer occupied with fighting off the Adamantium poisoning that was constantly plaguing his body. This causes his mutation to become more extreme, unleashing its full potential and making Wolverine into a half-beast-half-man being.
This is only stopped when Apocalypse pits Wolverine against an Adamantium-laced Sabretooth, to see who is more worthy of joining his Horsemen, when Logan immerges victorious, Apocalypse rips out the metal from Sabretooth and installs it inside Wolverine again, restoring him to his human form, and allowing him to take up active duties in the X-Men once again.
While a feral Wolverine arc might not be in the cards for Logan, Apocalypse might be Wolverien’s only hope for getting his adamantium skeleton back, which gives what might be on the horizon for the X-Men, the character will definitely need.
