This article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97.

X-Men ’97 is all set for its finale, which began with the first entry in a three-part saga with X-Men ’97 Episode 8, Tolerance is Extinction Part 1. There were a lot of stand-out moments from the episode, but the chief among them was when Magneto was able to escape from Bastion’s clutches and emit a global EMP that rendered the Prime Sentinels of the world and global the electrical grid dead.

Seeing that Magneto had a very uneasy peace with humanity when he took over from Charles Xavier and that he declared war thanks to Bastion’s actions, the X-Men could be headed to a particularly brutal fight with the Master of Magnetism, one that could directly result in the emergence of a terrifying foe, who could be the antagonist for Season 2 of X-Men ’97.

Tolerance is Extinction Part 1 took a lot of cues from a particular issue of X-Men comics. Fatal Attractions saw Magneto strip the globe of its power supplies, which prompted the X-Men to face the mutant revolutionary. Among the many things that the character puts the X-Men through, one of the most brutal scenes in the comic occurs when Magneto strips Wolverine of his adamantium skeleton, an ordeal that leaves Logan horribly injured and on the brink of death.

This prompts Charles to mindwipe Magneto, but the resultant living entity that emerged from the melding of their psyches is dubbed Onslaught, who is one of the most dangerous antagonists of the Mutant side of Marvel.

It is completely possible that in the coming episodes, Magneto and Professor X will clash to decide the fate of humanity, and the resultant battle will cause the birth of Onslaught, who will become the main antagonist of X-Men ’97 Season 2.

Logan could have his own solo run in X-Men ’97 Season 2

After the events of Fatal Attractions, Logan exits the X-Men until his skeleton is bonded with adamantium again. Should these plot points be followed through in X-Men ’97, fans could see Logan go on a journey to reclaim his powers, in a similar way to Storm.

This has the possibility of introducing a slew of characters from Wolverine’s corner of the universe into the MCU, and perhaps even start building the Snikt family with the introduction of characters like Laura Kinney, Gaby Kinney, and Akihiro, all of whom have held the mantle of Wolverine in the absence of Logan in the main X-Men team. Logan could also play out a slew of his plots, and introduce a lot of new characters to the world of X-Men ’97.
