X-Men 3 Star Sparks Outrage by Declining ‘Deadpool 3’: Shocking Reason Revealed!

Deadpool & Wolverine will include several cameos from previous Fox X-Men movies, but audiences shouldn’t expect to see this X-Men 3 star suit up.

Despite being in the MCU, several Fox X-Men cameos are expected for Deadpool & Wolverine, but one character that has now been confirmed not to appear is Vinnie Jones’ Juggernaut. Jones originally played Juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand. Juggernaut appeared again in Deadpool 2, but this time, he was a fully CGI character voiced by Ryan Reynolds. It is unclear if the Reynolds version of Juggernaut will appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, following the tease that he was still alive after the ending of Deadpool 2.

While speaking with Yahoo UK, Vinnie Jones revealed that, although he was asked to cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine as Juggernaut, he ultimately had to turn down the role. Interestingly, the reason seems to be the impracticality of the suit and helmet. Jones’ comments on Deadpool & Wolverine can be seen below:

“Funnily enough, I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one now, and I spoke to the director, and I just said it’s such a drama putting that suit on, you know. Mentally and physically. I mean, it had its mental toll as well because you’re in it, and you can’t do anything all day; you can only drink through a straw. So we couldn’t strike the deal for Deadpool. I mean, Deadpool’s my favorite movie of all f****** time, more or less. I really wanted to do it, but they didn’t have the budget to put me in the suit.

It’s clear from Jones’ statements that he enjoys the Deadpool movies and was more than happy to reprise his role. However, other factors made him ultimately have to give it up. It’s a little surprising Jones even considered the role in the first place, given how much his original X-Men: The Last Stand role was cut down.

Why Vinnie Jones Doesn’t Think Fondly Of His Time As Juggernaut

Vinnie Jones' Juggernaut looks up, confused, in X-Men: The Last Stand Juggernaut is a very significant character in X-Men, but audiences wouldn’t have known that from X-Men: The Last Stand’s depiction of the character. According to Vinnie Jones, his character initially had more depth, but once the film changed hands, his role was significantly cut back. Jones’ comments on the changes made to his role can be read below:

“A new director came on, and it was not the same role I had signed on to do, you know. They diluted the dialogue. It was a bigger role. I’ve actually come out and said that, you know. The director brought in so many other moving parts and so many other actors that mine was the one that got diluted. The Juggernaut got diluted. You know, I lost all interest quite early ’cause I knew they were just ticking me along, you know what I mean? And I was very upset because it was such a movie, such a big stage, and I became an extra.”

It’s no surprise that Jones would feel disappointed with his version of Juggernaut if he was initially sold on it being a bigger role. Jones wasn’t the only one who was misled by promises of a bigger role X-Men: The Last Stand.

According to the film’s original director, Matthew Vaughn, Halle Berry was shown a fake script to get her to sign back on as Storm for the third X-Men movie. This trick led Vaughn to quit the movie, which is what resulted in a new director and the eventual gutting of Vinnie Jones’ role. It’s a shame that Vinnie Jones won’t be given a second chance at playing Juggernaut in Deadpool & Wolverine, seeing as his first chance at the role was handled so poorly.
