The legendary Rikishi, known as much for his entertaining antics as his Samoan dominance, recently dropped a bombshell on his podcast. The Hall of Famer, ever the showman, revealed his dream entrance scenario: a collaboration with none other than Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.
Cardi B and Nicki Minaj as Tag Team Escorts? Bloodline Member Rikishi Spills WWE Entrance Dreams
The Hall of Famer stated on his Rikishi Fatu Off The Top podcast that he would prefer to have Nicki Minaj and Cardi B accompany him when he makes his entrance if he were to wrestle on a major show. According to Rikishi, they would all be dressed in thongs, and he was thinking of including Lizzo as well. In addition, he made a joke about not being seen entering with two men. Let’s just say, it’s… unique.
He said, “Shake what your mama gave ya. We’d all be in a thong. Every single [one] of us, we’d all be in a thong. I might have to throw Lizzo in there. How cool would that be?”
The audacious proposal, while undoubtedly entertaining, comes amidst a wave of change in the WWE landscape. Following Endeavor’s acquisition and the subsequent merger, the company has embraced a new era of integrated sponsorships. From the prominent Prime logo dominating the center of the ring during premium live events to the plethora of logos adorning the Raw ring mat (Netflix, Riyadh Season, Snickers, even Real American Beer thanks to a multi-year deal with Hulk Hogan), it’s clear that WWE is capitalizing on every opportunity. Rikishi, while acknowledging the influx of sponsorships, couldn’t help but ponder the possibilities.
“The business, I feel, is going to skyrocket a lot because you got two big companies now, collab together, I think it’s probably going to open up other doors for wrestlers.”
Some fans contend that the distinction between entertainment and overt advertising has become more hazy, despite the fact that these collaborations surely bring in money. Concerns regarding the overall viewing experience have been raised by the frequent product placement during games, the constant promotion of 2K Sports, and the ubiquitous ring logos.
Whatever one’s opinion, one thing is for sure: Rikishi never fails to amuse both inside and outside the ring with his trademark humor and bizarre concepts. Fans will undoubtedly talk about his idea of an all-star, thong-clad entrance with the biggest names in music for weeks to come.
