Why The Pogues Would Lose Their Land Because Of Zone Changes In The Outer Banks Season 4

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Outer Banks season 4, part 1.

If viewers thought that the Pogues had already hit rock bottom before Outer Banks season 4, they should think again as the characters get hit with multiple losses in the episodes, possibly including their land due to zone changes. John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ, and Cleo face numerous challenges in season 4, part 1. From losing all their money from the El Dorado gold they discovered in Outer Banks season 3 (mostly thanks to JJ) to dealing with a group of mercenaries also looking for Blackbeard’s treasure, the Pogues have a lot going on.

Netflix split Outer Banks season 4 into two parts each consisting of five episodes, with part 1 releasing on October 10, and part 2 premiering on November 7.

Unfortunately, while diving to find an amulet on a sunken ship, getting stuck in a crypt rapidly filling with water, etc., the Outer Banks characters also have to deal with potentially losing their property. The Pogues have lost too much over the course of the TV show’s four seasons. However, if they are able to find enough money, they might be able to save Poguelandia 2.0 by the Outer Banks season 4 finale.

Zone Changes Would Lead To Inflated Prices & New Rules Forcing The Pogues To Lose Their Property

As Sarah and Cleo learn in Outer Banks season 4, the government is changing zones, which includes the Pogues’ land, and will inevitably kick them out of their home and business. A change in zoning results in inflated prices and new rules for those living in the newly formed zone. Zone changes are typically done to drive people away so that richer people can buy their property. Sarah even states that her father used to change zones to accomplish the same goal. Unfortunately, zone changes happen in real life and are used by the privileged to hurt the unprivileged.

The only way that John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ, and Cleo can stop the zone changes is if they amass enough money to fight the ruling. So, that is partly why they are trying to find Blackbeard’s treasure in Outer Banks season 4. The Pogues have no other choice because if they don’t accumulate a large sum of money in a short period of time, their business and home will be taken from them.

How Much Money Would The Pogues Need To Fight The Zone Changes In Outer Banks Season 4?

The Pogues Also Need $13,000 To Pay Their Property Taxes

Outer Banks season 4, part 1 doesn’t reveal the actual amount of money the Pogues would need to fight the zone change ruling. However, Topper, whose family wants to buy the property, mentions that the Pogues don’t have the money to do so. So, not only do they have to worry about paying $13,000 in property taxes, but the Pogues must also be concerned about getting enough money to stop the zone change. The latter issue would undoubtedly cost more than $13,000. However, if the Pogues find the Blue Crown in Outer Banks season 4, perhaps they can keep Poguelandia.
