Why Megan Thee Stallion shot by Tory Lanez? Exploring tensions behind attack

Tory Lanez serves 10-years in jail for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Rapper Tory Lanez Has Been Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

Megan Thee Stallion, who is currently dating Pardison Fontaine,  was allegedly shot by a Canadian rapper and former partner Tory Lanez in July 2020.

The incident sparked significant public debate and legal action. Here’s a summary of what happened:

The Incident:

On the night of July 12, 2020, Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez, and another friend, Kelsey Harris, were leaving a party in the Hollywood Hills.

According to the Mamushi vocalist, Tory Lanez shot her in both feet after an argument in the car.

Taking to Instagram Live, Megan, who’s net worth is around $30 million, confirmed the shooting. She revealed that she had undergone surgery to remove bullet fragments from her feet.

The 29-year-old did not name Tory as the shooter initially, but later she publicly accused him of the crime.

Why Did It Happen?

Lanez and Megan provided conflicting statement and for that reason the exact motive behind the shooting remained unclear.

The Lady of Namek singer initially denied shooting Megan and suggested that the situation was a result of an argument, but later, he was accused of intentionally shooting her.

Several speculations surfaced, including possible jealousy related to romantic or professional tensions between Megan, Lanez, and others involved.

Legal Proceedings:

Lanez was arrested and charged with assault with a firearm, negligent use of a weapon, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

The case went to trial in late 2022. Megan testified that Tory shot her, while Lanez’s defense team argued that he was not the shooter, suggesting that Kelsey Harris might have been responsible.

In December 2022, Lanez was convicted of all charges related to the shooting. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023.

Megan Thee Stallion received both public and legal support for her testimony, while Tory Lanez’s career faced significant repercussions. The incident sparked a broader conversation about violence against women in the hip-hop industry.
