Sweet Magnolias is back!

More than a year after season 3 aired, the series, based on the romance novels by Sherryl Woods is back with season 4, premiering on Netflix on Feb. 6.

And while fans watch the love lives of their favorite characters like Maddie Townsend, played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher and Helen Decatur, played by Heather Headley, pan out onscreen, in real life, these actors have love stories of their own.

From decades-long marriages to young love, see the significant others of these Sweet Magnolias stars.

JoAnna Garcia Swisher

JoAnna Garcia Swisher who plays single-mom of three Maddie Townsend, also has two children in her real life whom she shares with husband Nick Swisher.

JoAnna and the former MLB player wed on Dec. 11, 2010 — less than a year after getting engaged. They welcomed their first child, Emerson Jay Swisher, in May 2013 before growing to a family of four in 2016 with the arrival of Sailor Stevie Swisher.

Heather Headley

Heather Headley, who plays Helen, one of Maddie’s two best friends, is also married to a former professional athlete.

The Grammy and Tony winner — who originated the role of Nala in The Lion King on Broadway — and former New York Jets player Brian Musso have been married for more than 20 years, per Country Living, and are now parents of three.

Brooke Elliott

The former Drop Dead Diva star now appears as Maddie and Helen’s third best friend Dana Sue. It appears Elliott prefers to keep her love life private as there are no indications she is with anyone.

Anneliese Judge

Dana Sue’s daughter is played by Anneliese Judge, who per her Instagram account, seems to in a relationship with Cameron Zahand.

“sometime between now and the night we met, you broke down my walls and rebuilt them with windows,” Judge wrote in part for an emotional birthday post to Zahand in May. “letting the sun shine in. your love is a balm to the aches of the world.”

Jamie Lynn Spears

Jamie Lynn Spears, who plays Noreen Fitzgibbons on the Netflix series, married Jamie Watson in March 2014. At the time, Spears was already mom to daughter Maddie, whom she shares with her ex Casey Aldridge, and she later welcomed daughter Ivey with Watson.

Carson Rowland

Carson Rowland and his wife Maris with their daughter Eden Stone.

Carson Rowland, who plays Maddie’s eldest son Tyler, married his wife Maris in October 2021, and in November 2023 welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Eden Stone Rowland.

Justin Bruening

Justin Breuning, who plays Tyler’s baseball coach and a love interest of Maddie’s, is married to fellow actress and former All My Children costar Alex Havins — they even got engaged on the set.

The pair have been married for nearly 20 years and share now share three children.

Dion Johnstone

Dion Johnstone, who plays Helen’s boyfriend Erik, is married to his “one and only,” fellow actress and creative coach Lisa Berry.

For her birthday in November Johnstone wrote on Instagram, “It’s an honor to stand by your side and celebrate you—especially today, on your special day.”

The two welcomed a son in July 2020.

Brandon Quinn

Quinn and his wife Rachel celebrated their 20-year anniversary in October 2022.

“The love of my life, my best friend and soul mate. 22 years and my love for you grows stronger and deeper with every passing day,” he wrote on her birthday in 2021.
