We May Already Know Who Giancarlo Esposito is Reportedly Playing in Captain America 4 and it’s a Huge Letdown

The actor has a lot of potential to play some big roles, but Marvel has wasted actors before in roles that they do not belong in.

Giancarlo Esposito has been cast in the MCU in a role that fans are not aware of. According to the actor, the role is such that it could spawn a series of its own. Previously, Esposito had expressed his interest in playing the role of Charles Xavier, but without the wheelchair. The actor had also been speculated to be in the running to play some of Marvel’s bigger characters like Doctor Doom or Galactus (before the latter was confirmed to be essayed by Ralph Ineson in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film, The Fantastic Four).

There are multiple characters that Giancarlo Esposito could play, but it is difficult to pinpoint which it could be. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no stranger to introducing original characters in the MCU, or even race-bending or gender-bending them. Therefore, speculating what the actor might be up to in the franchise can be tricky. However, there are some roles that would thoroughly disappoint fans and be seen as a huge waste of talent if Esposito is cast in them.

Giancarlo Esposito could be essaying the role of Paul Wilson

The character that Giancarlo Esposito is playing is scheduled to be teased sooner rather than later, as revealed by the actor. Save Deadpool & Wolverine, the closest big-budget release that we have from the MCU is Captain America: Brave New World. This film could have the character that Giancarlo Esposito is playing, but it would be a disappointing casting for the actor.

Paul Wilson was a minister in Harlem, and the father of Sam Wilson, the current Captain America. The character is nothing novel in the comics, and the films could make it so that Sam comes from a military family. Giancarlo Esposito could essay this role, which might lead to a full-on series based on the exploits of Esposito’s character, but this prediction is highly speculatory at best, and completely non-sensical at worst.

There is one character that would suit Giancarlo Esposito very well

Blade | Marvel Comics

The next installment into the MCU after Captain America: Brave New World is Blade, which could feature Giancarlo Esposito as an interesting character. The actor could essay the role of Lucas Cross, the father of Blade. While mostly inconsequential to Balde’s origin story, the character is a part of the Order of Tyrana, of which little is known in the comics.

However, given that Marvel is currently fleshing out their mystical side with shows like Agatha All Along, a show about the Order of Tyranna could explore the occult, or even serve as a magical/occult equivalent for SHIELD, which recruits the likes of Dane Whitman’s Black Knight, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, Iron First and other magic adjacent characters to create the MCU’s version of the Midnight Suns.
