Virgin River has been keeping viewers on the edge of their seats and clutching their proverbial pearls since its debut season on Netflix .
Much has transpired throughout the show’s seasons, especially between characters Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen) and Dan Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) in Season 6. Mel Monroe’s (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan’s (Martin Henderson) extravagant fairytale wedding might’ve been the highlight of this past season, but it surely wasn’t the only hot topic. The drama wasn’t minimal among the other town residents, specifically Brie (Zibby) and her two lovers Dan (Benjamin) and Mike Valenzuela (Marco Grazzini), who she was in a love triangle with.
In Robyn Carr’s Virgin River book series, which the Netflix series was based on, the story centers around the love between nurse practitioner Mel and ex-marine slash bar owner Jack as they enjoy their life together in the fictional town of Virgin River.
Even though Mel and Jack’s wedding was the main focus of Season 6, which is streamable on Netflix, Brie and Dan stole the show in Season 5.
Brie, who happens to be Jack’s sister, had called it quits with Dan last season, leading them to supposedly begin seeing other people. However, it was evident that the two continued to still have feelings for each other, so much so that they ended up giving in to their desires on a pool table at Jack’s bar.
Their intimate reconciliation actually was improvised, and suggested by Benjamin.
“It was originally set to be in the bedroom (Brady’s bedroom at the bar) (which) seemed a little more planned out,” Dan told USA Today. “It felt more instinctual, raw and passionate to make it happen right in the bar, and to make it be all of a sudden.”
Benjamin added: “I always talk about Brady and Brie like magnets. They’re constantly being drawn to each other, and at some point, if you get them close enough, it’s undeniable. I wanted that to play out in real time, and it just felt rawer and more organic.”
As of now, it’s unsure if Brie and Dan will make their way back to each other.
“I don’t know. They never tell us, and I have not seen any scripts,” Zibby explained to the news outlet. “I’m certainly getting a lot of feedback about what the world wants to see. By and large, it’s a real debate online. I know the writers are very busy right now and they’re taking a lot of the feedback from the viewers.”
She added: “Brie and Brady have an undeniable chemistry, and that kind of chemistry doesn’t just come around any time. But I also think that chemistry goes away very easily. Whether or not they can navigate a very grounded, realistic relationship still stands to be seen.”
Virgin River has been renewed for Season 7.
