Benjamin Hollingsworth has revealed his hopes for season 7 of Virgin River

Virgin River star Benjamin Hollingsworth has given fans an insight into what they could expect from the seventh season of the popular show – including his hopes for his character.

In the season 6 finale, restaurateur Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and nurse practitioner Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) finally married at a grand wedding fit for the whole town after saying private vows to each other at a secluded spot by the river. But the dramatic ending also saw Brady, played by Benjamin, realize that his girlfriend Lark (Elise Gatien) and her daughter, Hazel, have left town – and his bank balance has plummeted down to $0 as they took all of his insurance money.

Fans of the Netflix series are now eager to know what will happen in the next season, which is set to begin filming in March. After a meeting with showrunner showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, Canadian actor Benjamin, 40, has teased that Brady will attempt to track down his ex-girlfriend and recover all the money she stole from him.

“I have met with Sean [Smith], and we talked season 7 storylines,” the actor shared. “So I do know a little bit about where we want to take him from here. I don’t think I can spoil much, but what I can say is that I don’t think he’s the guy that would just leave it alone that someone took all his money. I think that he’s the guy that would go looking for that.”

He added, “It’s not far-fetched to say that he’s probably going to be on the hunt for Lark, and how that all plays out will be some of the season 7 storyline.” Benjamin also said he hopes that Brady might have to team up with his frenemy, Mike (Marco Grazzini), who is Brie’s potential fiancé, on his mission – which could be a way for the two ex-marines to reconcile and form a friendship.

“I think that the dynamic of good cop, bad cop, literally, would be a lot of fun to play, having them work together,” he added. Benjamin also said Brie – who Brady declared his love to in the season finale – would be “the best option” for his character, highlighting that he and actress Zibby Allen have “such a great working relationship together and she’s such a great scene partner,” reported Radio Times.

The actor, who is also known for his role of Dr Mario Savetti on the CBS television series Code Black, said he loves playing Brady and he has “a great time” doing so. He added, “Whenever I get to get back into his world – aside from the workouts that I have to do to keep him in shape, that’s tough – but everything else, I love playing him.”

Season 6 dropped on December 19 with 10 episodes. While Netflix hasn’t announced a premiere date for season 7, we currently know it will consist of 10 episodes. Benjamin also revealed that during a conversation with the showrunner, the pair discussed a potential eighth season too. “I just had a conversation with Sean, and obviously, we need to be renewed for season eight, but he’s already thinking toward that,” he said.
