Virgin River Fans, Could Season 8 Actually Happen? Here’s What We Know

Virgin River

Since its debut, Netflix’s Virgin River has been one of the beloved romantic dramas, focusing on the lives of residents in a small town where Melinda “Mel” Monroe and Jack Sheridan’s love story begins. The story kicks off with Mel leaving behind her past and working as a nurse at Virgin River.

At the same time, Jack is among the well-known residents of the town who have been struggling with PTSD. Soon after crossing paths, Mel and Jack find each other interesting and eventually begin a relationship.

The Netflix series revolves around Mel and Jack’s journey while also following other key figures like the town’s mayor Hope, the charming Doc Mullins, and more. The show has completed six triumphant seasons and fans are gearing up for the seventh chapter.

It was confirmed during the run of season 6 as showrunner Patrick Sean Smith mentioned “There’s a lot more to go here with these characters”. Now that season 7 is on the way, what about Virgin River Season 8?

While Netflix hasn’t officially announced a season 8, there’s a possibility that Mel and Jack’s story will continue. The two have finally tied the knot, and exploring their married life in deep could be a great idea.

No, Netflix hasn’t greenlit the Virgin River for Season 8 as the makers are currently working on the upcoming Season 7. However, Benjamin Hollingsworth, who plays Brady teased discussions saying (Via Popternative):

“I just had a conversation with Sean [showrunner], and obviously, we need to be renewed for season eight, but he’s already thinking toward that.”

The actor added:

“As long as it’s engaging and people are wanting to watch more of it and come back, that’s the overall goal.”

Additionally, actor Tim Matheson (Doc Mullins) said in another interview (Via Dexerto):

“I think it’s bright and it could go on and on. Netflix loves it. It’s a show that can get ratings that more expensive shows also get but at a small percentage of the cost of those big shows.”

Even though season 8 isn’t confirmed, the fact that internal talks are happening suggests that Netflix is at least open to the idea of extending the series beyond season 7. As for the plot of a potential season 8, we’ll have to wait for the upcoming season in which Mel and Jack will be back as a newlywed couple.

While Mel and Jack’sweddingg ceremony by the river marked a major milestone in the romantic drama series, the sixth chapter concluded on an emotional yet suspenseful note. Despite the celebrations in the town, some residents face relationship issues as uncertainties continue to unfold.

Brie confessed to Mike about sleeping with Brady only to find out he already knew. On the other side, Preacher and Kaia chose to move forward, leaving behind Kaia’s lingering feelings about her past marriage. As for Lizzie and Denny, the two are prepared for parenthood, but with different views on marriage.

Since we’re talking about every key character, how can we forget Doc and Hope? Despite the threats to Doc’s practice, his relationship with Hope remains strong. Virgin River Season 6 ended on a cliffhanger when Jack finds Charmaine’s home in chaos, hinting at possible danger for her twins.

Not only this, Brady is betrayed by Lark while Mel and Jack face an unexpected adoption. Will these situations complicate the couple’s future? Even though if it does, Mel and Jack have always found a way to solve problems.
