As wildfires rage across northern Los Angeles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting involved with relief efforts from their home in Santa Barbara—and providing shelter to friends who had to vacate endangered areas. In a statement on their website, their office shared a list of organizations currently fundraising for relief, including World Central Kitchen, the relief organization founded by chef José Andrés, which is currently serving meals to first responders and those displaced by the destructive fires.

According to a source close to the couple, Meghan and Harry have been in direct contact with Andrés to further the group’s work, as well as donating clothing, children’s items, and other essentials, and opening their home to a few evacuated friends and loved ones. The source added that they are donating to relief efforts through the Archewell Foundation and working with their staff to identify ways to further support the community.

Their office’s statement urged readers to support their neighbors. “If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do,” it read. “And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.” Their message also mentioned ongoing efforts and fundraisers by Baby2Baby, CAL FIRE, LA Fire Department Foundation, and the Animal Wellness Foundation.

Earlier this week, Meghan took to her new Instagram account to share a few heartfelt words about the recent loss of her rescue beagle, Guy, nearly 10 years after she adopted him. “Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy,” she wrote. “You filled my life in ways you’ll never know.”
