With great power comes great responsibility: Online hate against Tom Holland spews to uplift another actor, but the fandom needs to stand united.

From Marvel fandoms, dealing with the recent social media trend has been no easy task by any means. A large loyal following of the MCU films belongs to the comic and also to non-comic book fans. This leads to a situation where opinions will always clash; however, some of these trends do nothing but take it too far with their highly controversial arguments.

Tobey Maguire’s other two counterparts, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland were contrasted in regards to their acting styles using some fan art. With regards to quality of performance, it seemed that while Garfield outdid Maguire; Holland was just mediocre at best. It resulted in insults hurled at the Uncharted 2 star, by people who were trying to show how good Garfield was.

The post is so debatable that it sparked heated fights among Marvel fans over who played Spider-Man best. Despite everyone having an opinion, the conversation quickly turned into how Andrew Garfield was better than Tom Holland.

Moreover, they brought their elements into them by representing the distinct features of the superheroes that made them memorable through this outfit, which each of them wore during their separate tenure with the role. Some people view the Spider-Man: No Way Home star as someone whose character does not convey serious voice levels like they would have hoped him to do.

Most fans took the time to express their views about their favorite actor, which is either the first, Tobey Maguire or the lead in The Amazing Spider-Man. Other comments mocked Holland’s movies claiming they were meant for children.

This tendency towards rivalry among actors is not just harmful but also pointless. Fans should view each performance positively without feeling that they need to run down someone else’s. It’s okay to disagree as long as the conversation remains polite and respectful.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always focused on diversity and inclusion; hence it is vital to accord respect to each actor’s representation. Some fans on social media did come in defense of the unfair treatment Holland’s Spider-Man receives.

One comment rightfully stated- that all three were best for their roles, giving due credit to the actors concerned. Instead of comparing and contrasting them, it is easier to celebrate the various things each actor brought into this role. So regardless of whether you prefer the first two performances or the newer one, fans need to stay united.
