A Thor 5 fan-made trailer takes the MCU’s God of Thunder back to his mythological roots in an epic battle between Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Brett Goldstein’s Hercules. Following Gorr the God Butcher’s redemption and Thor’s adoption of Love, Thor: Love and Thunder‘s post-credits scene set up a battle between Thor and Hercules, with the latter preparing himself to exact revenge on the former for piercing Zeus with his own lightning bolt. Given that Thor is one of the few active Avengers still around, the possibility of a Thor: Love and Thunder sequel coming soon is quite high.

Concept trailer YouTube channel Darth Trailer imagines what Thor 5 will look like, using footage from Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor: The Dark World, The Marvels, and The Legend of Hercules. Titled Thor: Battle of the Gods, the fan-made sequel teaser suggests that Thor and Hercules’ conflict will also involve a war between the New Asgardians and the Olympians. The expectations for Thor 5 are high given Thor: Love and Thunder‘s mixed performance. Thor: Love and Thunder received heavy criticism due to its lighthearted tone and misplaced humor, which took weight away from Gorr’s threat. As seen in the fan-made Thor: Battle of the Gods concept trailer, Thor 5 will likely have a darker tone. The conflict between Norse gods and Olympic gods provides enough material for a grittier but still fantastical MCU movie starring the God of Thunder.

The impending battle between Thor and Hercules will likely take Chris Hemsworth’s Thor back to his mythological roots. Despite their flaws, Thor and Thor: The Dark World spent plenty of screentime on Asgard, yet didn’t explore the entirety of Thor’s mythos. Unfortunately, Thor: Ragnarok wiped out Asgard and killed off several key Asgardian characters, but Thor 5 could still lean heavily on ancient myth through the Olympians and Omnipotence City.

Thor Is The MCU Sequel With The Clearest Premise

Few MCU sequels have been set up as clearly as Thor 5. Whereas there are many ways movies like Captain America: Brave New World and Spider-Man 4 could disappoint audiences, Thor 5‘s basic premise already offers an exciting event. Not only is Hercules a powerful mythical hero like Thor, but he’s also an important Marvel character with multiple decades’ worth of comic book history. The concept of a “god vs god” battle also has the makings of a successful MCU movie, similar to Thor: Ragnarok and Captain America: Civil War.
