Fans are surprised by how Hugh Jackman predicted the ongoing rumors about Avengers: Secret Wars.

Hugh Jackman, Avengers

Hugh Jackman has been a part of the X-Men since the 2000s and has played Wolverine for over 20 years. The role made him a household name and has carried the X-Men brand for all these years. The character has now joined the MCU alongside Deadpool and will appear in Deadpool & Wolverine next month.

Before all the multiverse shenanigans that are currently going on in the MCU, the X-Men, and the Avengers were separate entities and came from different studios. There were hopes of seeing them reunite on-screen for many years. Even Jackman dreamt of one day seeing all the Marvel characters come together to fight a common enemy, and his 2013 prediction may come true soon.

Hugh Jackman has always expressed his love for the Marvel universe and led the X-Men films with his committed performance as Wolverine. The actor had dreams within the Marvel universe and wanted the X-Men to unite with the Avengers ever since the MCU began. However, that was not possible at the time as both properties came from different studios.

That did not stop Jackman from having big dreams of seeing all the X-Men and the Avengers, including Robert Downey Jr.‘s Iron Man and Spider-Man in one film. During an interview for the 2013 Wolverine film, Jackman made a big prediction about the existing on-screen Marvel heroes, confidently declaring that they would come together one day or another. He said (via X),

I believe, maybe I’m just optimistic. I understand that Marvel’s got the Avengers, they’ve got a lot of big things going on, but at some point, I just find it almost impossible that there’s not a way to bring, Iron Man, all the Avengers characters, Wolverine the X-Men characters, Spider-Man and somehow get them in together.

With the announcement of Avengers: Secret Wars, many rumors have been swirling about Jackman’s Wolverine having a huge role in the film with other Avengers. On X, fans are impressed that Jackman may have ‘unknowingly’ predicted the coming together of characters he mentioned in the 2013 interview. Here are some of the reactions,

Recently, it was reported that Avengers 5 will feature more than 60 characters and will be an ensemble piece. Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to top that and bring the Multiverse saga to a befitting closure. With Deadpool & Wolverine coming soon, it remains to be seen whether it sets up the stage for Wolverine’s appearance in Secret Wars.

Hugh Jackman Agreed to Be In Deadpool & Wolverine Without Telling His Agent

Hugh Jackman is set to make his comeback as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor had already declared his retirement from the character after 2017’s Logan, but the prospect of coming together on-screen with Deadpool for Deadpool & Wolverine was something that he couldn’t let go. Thus, accepting to return for the film was pretty spontaneous for Jackman.

In an interview with Fandango, the actor revealed that the fans have always wanted to see the two characters on-screen in a buddy movie, and he just knew in his gut that he had to do the film. Jackman instantly called up Ryan Reynolds to tell him that he was doing the film. Jackman then rang up his agent to tell him about accepting the role to return as Wolverine later on. The X-Men star said,

Ever since I saw ‘Deadpool’ 1, I was like, ‘Those two characters together.’ I knew it, I knew the fans wanted it ever since I put on the claws, people talked about these two. So, that had always been there, but I just knew. Soon as I arrived, I rang Ryan. And I just said, ‘Let’s do it.’ Like, I hadn’t rung my agent, no one. I had to ring my agent and said, ‘Oh, by the way, I have just committed to a movie.’

In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, the film will also star Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. Deadpool & Wolverine is directed by Shawn Levy and will hit theatres on July 26, 2024.
