Virgin River fans have rallied around characters previously deemed “unlikeable” as excitement builds for the show’s sixth season, set to premiere on Netflix next month.

The show’s popularity has been further boosted by the announcement of a seventh season on the streaming service, solidifying its status as a fan favorite. The show, based on Robyn Carr’s Virgin River novels, first debuted on 2019 and followed nurse practitioner Melinda “Mel” Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) as she moved to the Northern California town of Virgin River for a fresh start. Viewers are eagerly anticipating the return of Mel and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) with their love story, but there’s a growing wave of support for characters who were previously considered “annoying”.

A Reddit user sparked the conversation by posting: “Lizzie has shown so much growth in her character, yet people are still annoyed by her character and I don’t know why.”

The fan also expressed support for other characters who may have been unfairly judged in past seasons, as reported by the Daily Record. “There are people that don’t like Jack and I get that he has some qualities that aren’t the best, but he’s a great guy. Brady needs a break. Please. Let him live a good life,” they pleaded.

Some fans do not like Lizzie while some do

The fan continued with “Preacher also deserves better than what he was given. I love this series so much. I can’t wait for the next season [sic].”

The comments section quickly filled with other fans sharing their thoughts on Lizzie, Brady (Ben Hollingsworth), and Jack (Martin Henderson), reports the Mirror. However, not everyone agreed, with another fan admitting: “I like Hope, Preacher, Brady, Paige…. Most of the unliked characters. But not Lizzie lol. I just can’t!!” Some viewers expressed their admiration for Brady, with one writing: “I agree with Brady. He has the most growth and it would be nice to see him happy.” Another fan chimed in, saying: “I love Hope, and I also love Brady.” One fan shared their candid opinion, saying: “lol idk if this is a controversial opinion but I love all the characters in Virgin River honestly.”
