Could Daredevil: Born Again be the end of the road for Charlie Cox in the MCU?
Fans have been waiting for the Disney+ production, Daredevil: Born Again, since it was announced by Kevin Fiege during the 2022 San Diego Comic Con. Starring Charlie Cox as the titular character, the show is alleged to be a soft reboot of the Netflix series Daredevil, which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2018. After numerous delays because of script changes, as well as the SAG-AFTRA strikes, the show is finally ready to land on the streaming platform.
During the Disney Upfront 2024, Disney revealed the first trailer of the show behind closed doors to select media personnel. But before the fanfare, many were able to catch up with stars such as Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, and have a bit of a chat about the upcoming show.
Charlie Cox Could Bid Goodbye to The MCU After Daredevil: Born Again
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were present during the Disney Upfront 2024. They spoke of the upcoming show and how excited they were about finally releasing a trailer, albeit behind close doors. Speaking to Deadline, Cox said that the show was very physically demanding, and while he is able to continue for now, it might not be the case a few years down the line.
When Cox started his journey as Daredevil back in 2015, he was 33 years old. But after almost a decade now, it is not a surprise that the actor would find it a little difficult. And it would not be a surprise if he decides to leave the action behind after the show’s conclusion. While he is not there yet and hopes to go on for 10 more years, fans should also it can also happen a lot sooner.
Vincent D’Onofrio Hypes His Daredevil: Born Again Co-star
Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox have been working together since they met for the Netflix series back in 2015. Now, almost a decade down the line, they have become pals who are on the phone with each other every day and consult on the creative process of the show regularly. Talking about Cox, D’Onofrio said that although his co-star is right about the show being physically demanding, it would be difficult for people to relate to him finding it hard to work the action scenes when they see him in the show.
“You’re not going to believe anything he just told you because he’s really good.”
The fans are very excited to finally have the show on their screens, and have demanded the release of a teaser trailer. With 18 episodes in the season, Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ in March of 2025.
