A third season will likely follow the final book in Jenny Han’s trilogy, We’ll Always Have Summer.
Season three of The Summer I Turned Pretty is currently in the works at Prime Video.
“We’ve been delighted to see the passion with which fans have embraced The Summer I Turned Pretty, making Summer Fridays an entertainment phenomenon,” Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon and MGM Studios, said in a statement announcing the third season’s renewal. “Jenny Han is a gifted storyteller, whose fans have been clamoring for the third chapter of this story. We’re excited today to share the news that they have a lot more Summer to look forward to.”
Here’s everything we know so far about season three.
It would likely be based on We’ll Always Have Summer.
Here’s how publisher Simon & Schuster describes the third and final The Summer I Turned Pretty book: “Belly has only ever been in love with two boys, both with the last name Fisher. And after being with Jeremiah for the last two years, she’s almost positive he is her soul mate. Almost. While Conrad has not gotten over the mistake of letting Belly go, Jeremiah has always known that Belly is the girl for him. So when Belly and Jeremiah decide to make things forever, Conrad realizes that it’s now or never—tell Belly he loves her, or lose her for good. Belly will have to confront her feelings for Jeremiah and Conrad and face the inevitable: She will have to break one of their hearts.”
Lola Tung will return as Belly.
We could definitely expect to see Lola Tung return as Belly, Christopher Briney as Conrad, Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah, Sean Kaufman as Steven, Jackie Chung as Laurel, and Rain Spencer as Taylor. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.
We’re team Belly all the way.
Production began in May 2024.
Prime Video shared a clip of the cast on the beach:
In October 2024, Tung was spotted filming in Paris.
Season three may not premiere until summer 2025.
Season one debuted in summer 2022, and season two aired in summer 2023. The ongoing double strikes by the actors and writers pushed production back, so we’ll likely to see season three in summer 2025.
