“We won’t get a chance to be this close to hummingbirds ever again,” Harry whispers to Archie. “Because they’re scared of humans.”
The Early Celebrations
Ahead of her official birthday on June 4, friends and family gathered to celebrate Princess Lilibet’s third year of life. The guest list included close friends, family members, and some of Lili’s own friends. It was a joyful occasion filled with love and laughter, as the young royal enjoyed her special day surrounded by those who adore her.
Lilibet’s Birth and Name
Princess Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born in California in June 2021. Her name holds significant meaning: “Lilibet” pays homage to her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who was affectionately known by this nickname within the royal family. Meanwhile, her middle name, “Diana,” is a heartfelt tribute to her late grandmother, Princess Diana.
A Royal Title
Lilibet’s birth announcement, shared on the Archewell Foundation website, introduced her as “Lili.” This endearing nickname is one that Prince Harry and Meghan have continued to use for their daughter. In March 2023, it was exclusively revealed that Lilibet, along with her older brother Archie, had been granted the titles of prince and princess after their grandfather, King Charles, ascended to the throne in September 2022. Thus, Lilibet officially became Princess Lilibet2.
Sweet moments of Lili

Meghan and Harry shared the happy news of Lilibet’s birth two days after she was welcomed to the world. On June 6, 2021, the proud parents shared a statement via their Archewell website, which read, “On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.” They added: “She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.”
In their Netflix docuseries in 2022, Meghan and Harry gave fans a glimpse of their daughter’s first year. The little one can be seen sleeping peacefully, and wrapped up in a blanket, she lay in her arms.
