Amazing news for The Summer I Turned Pretty stans everywhere: The show is set to come back for season 3! And it’s a well-deserved feat, since according to Amazon (per Deadline), season 2 was among the top 10 most-watched seasons of any series on the platform. Oh, and the season 2 premiere episodes reportedly doubled season 1’s viewership within three days of launching. Casual.

Obsessed with the show as much as we are? Wondering whether Tay and Steven are gonna be endgame?? Wanna know if more Taylor Swift songs are in store for us??? Here’s the 411 on all things The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3.

‘Kay, So What Exactly Has Been Said About TSITP Season 3 So Far? (Asking for a Friend)

Aside from the fact it’s definitely making a comeback (!), Deadline reported last August that Jenny Han, aka the genius behind the series’s bestselling novels, is set to return yet again as the showrunner alongside writer and producer Sarah Kucserka.

And fans weren’t the only ones excited about the renewal at the time. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, dished to the outlet, “We’ve been delighted to see the passion with which fans have embraced The Summer I Turned Pretty, making Summer Fridays an entertainment phenomenon.”

“This charming, deeply heartfelt series has shown the breadth of our customer base, appealing to a young, diverse set of viewers. Jenny Han is a gifted storyteller, whose fans have been clamoring for the third chapter of this story. We’re excited today to share the news that they have a lot more Summer to look forward to. Thank you to Jenny, Sarah Kucserka, and Karen Rosenfelt, and our friends at wiip for their remarkable work and partnership,” she added.

Honestly? Couldn’t have said it any better myself. 🤧

Will There Be Any Changes to Season 3?

Something tells us that Jenny will have something up her sleeve considering how many iconic additions there were in season 2. Case in point? The introduction of two new characters: Conrad and Jeremiah’s cousin Skye (Elsie Fisher) and their mother, Aunt Julia (Kyra Sedgwick).

Plus, the author proved to be one of the most dedicated Swifties out there by surprising fans of the series with “Back to December (Taylor’s Version)” and a new take on Folklore’s “August” in a season 2 trailer—check it out and relive the mems below!

Back in 2022, Jenny Han opened up to E! News and dished that it was her “number one dream” to have Taylor on the soundtrack for season 2. “I was listening to Fearless, and I was like, ‘These songs have really helped me get to the finish line,’” the author explained at the time. “When I write books, I like to listen to music to help me see the emotional vein of the story, and her music really did that with me for the series.”

Mission = accomplished!

Here Are All the Songs in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2

When Will The Summer I Turned Pretty Return?

Well, we finally have a timeline of when we’ll be back in Cousins Beach and no, you don’t have to pack your bags just yet.

Amazon announced at their 2024 upfront presentation that production has already begun in May 2024. However, this means that the show won’t be back until summer 2025. In some good news though, this will be the show’s biggest season yet with 11 new episodes coming in season 3. And at least we got this really cute cast video to make up for the longer wait.

Who Will Return for Season 3?

Hopefully the entire cast!!! That said, Kyra Sedgwick *did* recently dish the following at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her new movie, Bad Shabbos: “I’m not in season 3. No, no, no. Spoiler alert.” Obviously, this update raises the question of whether Elsie Fisher, aka Kyra’s onscreen child, will return. However, guess we’ll have to wait and see until the full cast list is confirmed. 🥺

In the meantime, the rest of the core actors—ahem: Christopher Briney (Conrad), Gavin Casalegno (Jeremiah), Lola Tung (Belly), Sean Kauffman (Steven), and Rain Spencer (Taylor)—are confirmed to return, so at least there’s that!

Where Can I Watch The Summer I Turned Pretty?

Amazon Prime Video is pretty much the only place you’ll be able to stream each and every season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, and there are two ways you can go about it: Amazon Prime and Amazon Prime Video. Confused? Dw, explainer incoming….

Basically, Amazon Prime is a membership program that grants its users unlimited fast shipping. What does this have to do with TSITP, you might ask? Well, if you pay for Amazon Prime, which costs $14.99 a month (or $139 for a year), you’ll have access to selected Prime Video content—including this show! Your second option, however, is to subscribe only to Prime Video for $8.99 a month. That said, both services have 30-day free trials, so do with that info what you will. 👀

And that’s pretty much all we know for now! But def stay tuned for more updates on The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3!
