This article contains spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2, episode 6.This article contains spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2, episode 6. With romantic tensions at a breaking point, The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2, episode 6 shows off some key moments for the characters that will most definitely set the stage for the romantic drama’s season finale. The Summer I Turned Pretty is a series on its second season, and is based on a trilogy of young adult romance novels by Jenny Han. This season, the protagonist Belly works together with the Fisher brothers to save their summer house, despite the complicated feelings she has for both of them.

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2, episode 6 explores the aftermath of Aunt Julia revealing that she sold Conrad and Jeremiah’s Cousins beach house. With only a bit of time left with the house, Belly convinces the Cousins crew that they should throw one last party at the house, just like the Susannah did when she first had ownership of the house. From there, the group goes off into their separate groups, planning then holding the party. By the end of the episode, many relationships are changed, and more importantly, the situation in Cousins is about to change significantly.

Steven & Taylor’s Kiss Explained – Are They A Couple Now?

Steven and Taylor The Summer I Turned Pretty

Over the course of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2, Steven and Taylor have had an insurmountable spark between them, and in episode 6, it all comes to fruition when they finally kiss. It occurs later in the episode after Steven gets into a fistfight with Taylor’s boyfriend Milo. The two duke it out in the middle of the dance floor, however, the defining moment is when Taylor demands that Milo tell her her middle name. When he can’t, she dumps him, and within seconds, Steven reveals that her middle name is Madison.

Later, in a lonely corner of the party, Taylor tells Steven that him knowing her middle name meant a lot to her, and ultimately, she chooses him over Milo. The pair kiss. Although this is definitely a satisfying moment, especially after their slow dance in episode 5, this kiss certainly has implications. In a matter of weeks Taylor will be going off to volleyball camp, and worse, Steven will be attending Princeton in the fall. So, even if the two decide to start a relationship, their separate lives are sure to pull them apart soon, at least physically.

Jeremiah’s “Blessing” Reveal Backfires – Belly Is Still In Love With Conrad

Jeremiah The Summer I Turned Pretty

While the rest of the Cousins crew is having their romantic moments, Belly finds herself in the midst of a heated argument between Conrad and Jeremiah. The high point of this fight is when Jeremiah reveals that he didn’t just give Conrad his blessing to date Belly, but that Conrad had begged him for it. While this has a dark meaning for the Fisher boys, for Belly it proves that Conrad cared much more about their relationship than she thought. In a dramatic moment on the beach, Belly tells Conrad that if she had known that he cared for her so much, she would have fought harder for him.

Ultimately, this moment proves that, despite what Jeremiah intended from that conversation, his reveal made Belly love Conrad even more. Rather than highlighting Jeremiah’s pain, his secret showed Belly that Conrad has always cared deeply for her, though he rarely showed it. In this way, Jeremiah’s reveal backfired, and it painted Conrad in a better light for Belly. Of course, this doesn’t fix everything though, as Conrad remains aloof during his conversation with Belly, implying that he loved her back then, but doesn’t now.

Why Jeremiah Didn’t Kiss Belly During The Taylor Swift “Delicate” Scene

Belly and Jeremiah The Summer I Turned Pretty

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2, episode 6 presents two moments where Belly and Jeremiah almost get together, with the more romantic being when she pushes him into the pool, and they begin play fighting. Against Taylor Swift’s “Delicate,” Jeremiah has the chance to kiss Belly, however the moment never happens. It seems that either Jeremiah hesitated, or more likely, that Belly pulled away. Right when the kiss should have occurred, Belly ducks under the water, swimming away to leave Jer staring longingly after her. In this case, it seems that the near-kiss was shut down by Belly rather than Jeremiah.

Jeremiah & Conrad’s Fight Explained

Conrad and Jeremiah in The Summer I Turned Pretty

The Fisher brothers dive into several of their key issues during The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2, episode 6. First and foremost, the fight begins when Skye reveals that they can rent the Cousins house for a week every summer. While Jeremiah and Belly are thrilled, Conrad says no. From there, Jeremiah calls out Conrad for giving up on situations when they’re difficult or imperfect, and he uses Belly as an example. He accuses Conrad of breaking up with Belly when things became too hard. Then, Jeremiah goes on to say that he had to watch Susannah slip away from cancer alone while Conrad was off at school and with Belly.

Belly’s The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Break Down Explained

Although Belly has put on a brave face throughout season 2, this episode brings her emotional turmoil to an unavoidable head. First, Belly doesn’t want to lose the beach house, and Julia’s sale means that she may never see Cousins again. Worse than that, their party begins getting out of hand, and Belly watches as parts of the house become ruined. The ultimate obstacle for Belly though is her love triangle with Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly is still wounded from her and Conrad’s break-up and her breakdown truly begins when she realizes that she may have put a permanent wedge between them.

Why Skye Helps Fight For Conrad & Jeremiah To Keep The Beach House

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Elsie Fisher Skye

In a surprising twist at the start of episode 6, Skye confronts their mother about selling the Cousins house, defending Conrad and Jeremiah and condemning her actions. They point out that, although they believe that Julia had a difficult time at the beach house and with her family, that is no reason to sell something that means so much to everyone else. Skye notes that Julia only sees her own bad experiences and completely ignores the good, including Skye’s own experience this summer. In this way, Skye argues that Julia is doing the wrong thing, and even stays back with the Cousins crew while Julia goes to Boston.

Aunt Julia’s Christmas Flashback Explained – Why Does She Resent Susannah?

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Kyra Sedgwick as Aunt Julia

The start of episode 6 offers a brief flashback that gives audiences a glimpse at Aunt Julia and her relationship with Susannah. Namely, the scene shows Julia and Susannah during Christmas, talking about the Cousins house. Susannah invites Julia to come up and Julia says no, claiming that she has only bad memories from there. She goes on to explain that she never felt wanted in their family, and worse, that she once overheard Susannah’s mother talking about how Julia was bringing them all down. It’s clear that Susannah and Julia have very different perspectives on their family, and this flashback gives context to Julia’s view of the family.

What Skye And Cam’s Kiss Means For Their Character Futures

Cam in The Summer I Turned Pretty

Another pair from the Cousins crew that reaches their romantic peak in episode 6 is Skye and Cam. Although they only recently met, the two clearly work well together, and this connection came to fruition at the party when Skye asked if they could kiss Cam. More than just establishing a romance between the two, this kiss says a lot about the future of these characters. The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Cam Cameron never appeared past Jenny Han’s first novel and Skye is an entirely original character. This kiss hints that perhaps these characters could remain in the series for future seasons to come.

What Laurel’s Cousins Beach Return Means For The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2

Laurel The Summer I Turned Pretty

Ultimately, Belly’s call to Laurel changes the game of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2. With only one episode left, it seems that Laurel will swoop in to hopefully save the house from Julia’s clutches, and also, to mend her relationship with Belly. The start of the season saw them fighting over Laurel’s handling of Susannah’s The Summer I Turned Pretty death, and now, with Belly feeling vulnerable, the two can bond once again by sharing their feelings. It seems likely that, although Laurel will probably be mad at Belly and Steven’s deception, she has the power to save the day, leaving the second season on a good note.
