The Falcon and The Winter Soldier season 2 could possibly be happening after all, as news about the show hints a potential extended future on Disney+.
Marvel Studios is possibly considering The Falcon and The Winter Soldier season 2, following a new Marvel Cinematic Universe update. One of the most pivotal MCU TV shows that came out of The Multiverse Saga was The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Focusing on Steve Rogers’ good allies Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier explored their dynamic and how they would deal with Captain America’s legacy falling in the wrong hands after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Nearly three years after The Falcon and The Winter Soldier season 1 premiered on Disney+, the studio has announced that the first season will be part of new Collector’s Editions being released by Marvel Studios in 4K UHD and Blu-Ray, starting on April 30. Notably, this is being released as “Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: The Complete First Season” instead of “The Complete Series” – wording that makes the chance of a subsequent season far more possible, especially as Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – The Complete Series is also announced alongside it.
How The Falcon & The Winter Soldier Season 2 Is Happening Elsewhere In The MCU
When Sam Wilson And Bucky Barnes Will Next Appear In The MCU
While Marvel Studios and Disney+ have not announced The Falcon and The Winter Soldier season 2 at the time of this story’s publication, Sam and Bucky are on their way back to the MCU. For Anthony Mackie’s character, he will lead the Captain America: Brave New World cast in 2025, as Sam is now the MCU’s new Captain America. While initially slated for this year, Marvel Studios is reportedly undergoing reshoots on Captain America: Brave New World.
Sebastian Stan’s next MCU appearance will be as part of the Thunderbolts movie cast, as Bucky will be joining the latest team in the franchise. Functioning as the MCU version of the Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts will bring together various past MCU villains as well as morally gray heroes. While it hasn’t been confirmed, a core theory surrounding the movie is that the Thunderbolts will be facing off with Sentry, reportedly played by Lewis Pullman.
If The Falcon and The Winter Soldier season 2 were to happen, the diverging paths that Bucky & Sam have been set on in the MCU would likely play a key role, and could potentially place them in conflict with one another, as much as it would be fun to see the duo teaming up again. However, for now, the world will have to wait and see whether or not The Falcon and The Winter Soldier season 2 come to fruition.
