The Marvel Cinematic Universe has officially found its Galactus as Ralph Ineson has boarded the cast of The Fantastic Four for Marvel Studios.

Ralph Ineson with Galactus and MCU's Fantastic Four cast

Ralph Ineson joins the cast of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of The Fantastic Four as Galactus. Marvel’s First Family is finally making their MCU debut in Phase 6, and The Fantastic Four reboot is one of the next Marvel Studios projects to start filming this year. Following the casting of the main heroes, it was reported that Galactus would be the movie’s central villain.

Not long after John Malkovich’s casting was revealed, Marvel expanded The Fantastic Four cast once again. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Ineson will join the reboot as none other than Galactus. At the time of the story’s publication, Marvel Studios had yet to comment on The Fantastic Four casting story, but Ineson offered his own reaction on Twitter/X:

Reposting the news, Ineson confirmed his casting by writing, “Actual Marvel Villain, get in!

He also teased Galactus’ impressive powers, saying, “World devouring cosmic villain is it? I’ll see what I can do.

Galactus Will Get A Second Chance At A Live-Action Adaptation

Galactus đe dọa Fantastic Four trong Fantastic Four Life Story của Marvel Comics

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Galactus made his debut in Fantastic Four #48 all the way back in March 1966 and has been one of the team’s most iconic villains. In the comics, Galactus is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel canon, as he has the ability to literally consume planets in order to survive. The Fantastic Four will be Galactus’ second live-action portrayal, following the panned version in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007.

As Galactus will be the primary antagonist in The Fantastic Four movie, this will likely be the MCU’s way of finally tackling the villain and exploring where he has been in the franchise this entire time. Given that The Fantastic Four is heavily theorized to take place in the 1960s, the movie may finally establish why Galactus has yet to appear in the present Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline. However, whether his potential defeat in The Fantastic Four will remain permanent remains to be seen, as Galactus could still somehow return in the present at some point.

It’ll be exciting to see Marvel Studios do a more comic-accurate version of Galactus in The Fantastic Four, as Kevin Feige is likely aware of the controversial iteration from Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver SurferGalactus will likely be a voice gig only for Ineson, who is a great fit as those who have followed his work in TV and film know. Hopefully, more details on The Fantastic Four reboot will arrive sooner rather than later as they get ready to start filming this year.
