The Explosive Identity of Deadpool 3’s Antagonist, Tied to X-Men Mythos

The main villain’s identity in Deadpool and Wolverine is reportedly revealed, and it seemingly has a major connection with an X-Men member.

Marvel Studios has seemingly revealed the major villain of Deadpool and Wolverine. The upcoming movie will star Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine as they face off against the TVA and potentially bring the Fox X-Men characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While details have been slowly leaking since the movie was announced, the movie’s villain has not yet been officially revealed.

A newly filed copyright registration, however, provides insight into which characters will be in the movie. According to the U.S. Copyright Office, the Deadpool and Wolverine cast will feature Deadpool, Wolverine, Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, and, most interestingly, Emma Corrin’s notorious Cassandra Nova. As a villain known for her hatred of the X-Men, Nova is a natural fit to be the movie’s main villain.

Who Is Cassandra Nova Explained

Cassandra Nova during the Genoshan Genocide

Cassandra Nova is a natural fit for Deadpool and Wolverine, and there’s a good reason why. The character was first introduced in New X-Men #114 and was created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitel. She bears a strong resemblance to Charles Xavier, and there is a good reason for that, as the two are technically siblings. Nova is Xavier’s Mummudrai, which means that she is his psychic opposite. After Xavier killed her while they were both in the womb, Cassandra managed to find her way back to life.

Cassandra’s long-term animosity against Xavier led to a long career as an X-Men villain. During that career, Nova has killed millions of mutants and completely eliminated the mutant stronghold of Genosha. She shares Xavier’s telepathic powers, while also possessing limited telekinesis, phasing, and regeneration abilities. While technically a mutant, she despises mutants for their connection to Xavier. Her sole goal is killing her twin.

As Deadpool and Wolverine will be the only Marvel Studios movie in 2024, Cassandra will likely be Marvel’s main villain for the year. She has already been seen in a glimpse through the trailer, as the back of her head is visible in a short shot. With Wade Wilson and Logan teaming up to take on Cassandra Nova, other X-Men characters will likely get involved to take out the genocidal villain.
