Take Action Now: Let Marvel Studios Know Which Series You Want Revived!

Trusted scooper Alex Perez reports that Marvel Studios is planning on reviving more canceled shows beyond X-Men ’97 and Daredevil: Born Again.

Trusted scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus recently hinted that Marvel Studios is planning to revive more canceled Marvel series than just the upcoming X-Men ’97 and Daredevil: Born Again.

Responding to a Marvel fan on X who had asked if X-Men: The Animated Series would be required viewing for X-Men ’97, Perez stated, “Yes. Definitely. It’s a continuation of the animated series, but now under the Marvel Studios, or rather, Marvel Animation brand. This concept of continuing old stories that were once finished under the Marvel Studios umbrella is gonna pick up sooner rather than later.” When a different fan asked if this meant that Marvel might announce more animated continuation of “shows that got canceled too soon,” the scooper added, “Not just animated,” while hinting that more of the Netflix street level heroes will get new projects.

When the Marvel Cinematic Universe began, Marvel’s film and television divisions were being run as two separate production companies — Marvel Studios and Marvel Television. It remained like this until Marvel Television was folded into Marvel Studios in late 2019; this allowed Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to begin developing television series that could be closely tied to the films of the MCU. As MCU fans are all too familiar, most of the Marvel series released before Phase 4, such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Runaways, Cloak and Dagger, were not officially viewed as canon by Marvel Studios.

However, following the creative overhaul of Daredevil: Born Again, all the Netflix/Marvel shows were officially made canon to the MCU, resulting in them being added to the Official MCU Timeline on Disney+. This has seemingly opened the door for other live-action Marvel series initially marketed as being part of the MCU to be revived as official entries in the shared universe. Of course, until Marvel Studios officially announces these revivals, fans should take these rumors with a grain of salt.

Marvel Fans Want Spider-Man and Avengers Series Revived

If Marvel Studios is seriously considering reviving more animated shows after X-Men ’97, two titles that fans would be excited to see brought back would be The Spectacular Spider-Man and Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, which were both canceled after two seasons. Since their respective cancelations in 2009 and 2012, fans have been campaigning for Marvel to renew both series for a third season, although their efforts have so far been unsuccessful.

X-Men ’97 is rumored to premiere on Disney+ in March 2024.
