“Stranger Things” Star Millie Bobby Brown Secretly Auditioned for Marvel Blockbuster Logan?

Millie Bobby Brown would’ve made her entry in the MCU through Hugh Jackman’s ‘Logan’ had one other tremendous actress not replaced her.

Amid Stranger Things Fame, Millie Bobby Brown Reportedly Auditioned For Her Marvel Debut in Hugh Jackman's Logan

Millie Bobby Brown has gained a lot of edge in the entertainment industry in recent years as her fame continues to grow and thrive with each new project she takes on. In fact, considering how peak her success had been riding on following her massive Stranger Things streak, debuting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would’ve been inevitable for her.

That being said, she did want to get involved in the multi-billion dollar franchise, according to reports. This, she reportedly intended to do through Hugh Jackman’s last masterpiece for the MCU that was originally planned to put his beloved Wolverine to rest, Logan (2017). However, due to a series of unfortunate (or perhaps, fortunate?) events, that debut never came to be.

Millie Bobby Brown Planned Her Marvel Debut Through Logan

Back in 2016, the casting call was announced for the character of X-23/Laura Kinney in Logan, the mysterious young girl who was very much like Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine’s biological daughter as well as the character himself. And among all the young girls who auditioned for this role, one name was that of Brown.

Since she was riding high on her fame from Strangers Things, a series which pretty much made her a household name overnight at mere 12-13 years of age, the Once Upon a Time in Wonderland star had a considerable chance of scoring the role. Had she won it, the critically acclaimed masterpiece would have officially marked her debut in the MCU.

Not only that, but the audition itself meant a lot to the Damsel actress. If anything, she even considered it her “best audition” back when she was 13 years old, during an interview that was a part of Variety’s Actors on Actors series. Recalling how the whole experience of it all felt, Brown had said back then:

“I was like, ‘It’s going to be amazing, I’m going to really prepare,’ and I sat in my room reading the lines,” she said. “Honestly, for me, I felt so — I felt an actor, in the audition room, hitting Hugh Jackman, and James Mangold sitting right in front of me.”

However, things didn’t quite go as intended, and the part was eventually given to Dafne Keen instead, who gave one of the best performances in the movie that marked her film debut. But despite such a series of unfortunate events, the Enola Holmes star was equally in incredible awe of Keen.

Although she was tremendously hyped for the role and was really looking forward to scoring it, Millie Bobby Brown wasn’t crushed when Dafne Keen nabbed the role from her. In fact, if anything, she thought Keen did an “incredible” job in the role. As she admitted and continued to express during the interview with Variety:

“I watched it; she was incredible. It meant so much to me.”

Nonetheless, even though Brown ended up losing out on the role, it was only for the better, for two years later, she got cast into the lead role as Madison Russell in one other awesome piece of work that was equally critically commended: 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, i.e. the very film that is regarded as one of the very best pieces in the Kaiju saga.
