Before becoming Superman, David Corenswet auditioned for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and there are some cool MCU roles the actor could still play.

Despite not getting the role he auditioned for in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, David Corenswet could still find himself in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future, and there are some great characters he could play. Corenswet has become famous worldwide for being cast as Clark Kent in James Gunn’s Superman. The movie will be the first film in the new DC Universe, with Corenswet replacing DCEU Superman actor Henry Cavill in the role.

Before he was cast as Superman, Corenswet almost got to work with Gunn in another superhero franchise. Recently, Gunn revealed that Corenswet auditioned to play Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the director’s last MCU film. While the role ended up going to Will Poulter, there are some characters Corenswet could be a great fit for in future Marvel movies.

10. Beyonder

Corenswet Could Go From The Greatest Superhero To A Major Villain

Corenswet will play the most well-known superhero of all time, Superman, in the new DC Universe. Given the size of his role in the new franchise, it might be hard to see the actor come to the MCU and play an ongoing role. Based on that, perhaps a one-off character would be the best choice for Corenswet at Marvel, and given the actor’s rise in popularity, it would have to be an impactful role.

Enter the Beyonder. The character could be revealed as the main force behind the announced Avengers: Secret Wars. The film should be the end of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, and given how Kang the Conqueror’s fate is up in the air after Jonathan Majors’ firing, using the Beyonder, who played a key role in the comics’ Secret Wars, would make sense. Corenswet could play the MCU’s main villain for a movie, tapping into a new side of his acting range.

9. Gambit

X-Men ’97 Has Shown The Mutant’s Potential

While it would be interesting to see how Corenswet would take on a villain role, the actor is more likely to play a hero if he ever joins the MCU. There are many fan-favorite heroes from Marvel Comics who have yet to show up in the franchise, and the MCU’s X-Men reboot could allow the opportunity for Corenswet to join the X-Men. The actor would be an exciting choice to play Gambit in Marvel’s X-Men movies.

Corenswet’s role in Netflix’s limited series Hollywood showed he would be great as Gambit. The actor can play Gambit’s charming personality perfectly, with Corenswet able to deliver Remy LeBeau’s sarcastic comments. After appearing minimally in Fox’s X-Men movies, Gambit got his time to shine in Marvel Studios’ first project for the mutants, with the character’s full potential being shown in X-Men ’97.

8. Black Bolt

Marvel Studios Could Redeem The Inhumans

Black Bolt is one of the most powerful Marvel characters. He has appeared in live-action in two very different projects, despite being played by the same actor. Anson Mount first gave life to Black Bolt in Inhumans, a project that has become one of the most criticized superhero series ever. Due to Inhumans‘ failure, it seemed the characters would be abandoned; however, Mount returned as a Black Bolt variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Despite his incredible power, Black Bolt was killed thanks to the Scarlet Witch’s magic in the Doctor Strange sequel’s most shocking moment. That could mark the end of Mount’s time as the character, with Marvel choosing to distance itself from the Inhumans series if it ever uses the characters again. Corenswet would be a solid pick for Black Bolt, as he has the imposing presence to play the regal character and make others fear him without saying a word.

7. Ka-Zar

The Savage Land Is Rumored For An MCU Project

Ka-Zar would allow the MCU to bring fresh ideas to the franchise. The character is known as the protector of the Savage Land, a Marvel Comics location where dinosaurs and other impressive beings still roam free. While the Savage Land still has to play a role in the MCU, the location might have been teased in Doctor Stange in the Multiverse of Madness as one of the universes Strange and America Chavez fell through.

The Savage Land might be getting ready for an MCU debut, and Corenswet could join the franchise as Ka-Zar. The hero is an irreverent protector of the land, with his expertise in the location leading to him becoming a master tactician, a role Corenswet could play well. The Savage Land is rumored to appear in Thunderbolts, and it would make sense, as the team could be after the special kind of Vibranium that exists at the location.

6. Iron Fist

Marvel Studios Could Recast The MCU’s Danny Rand

Another role Corenswet could play in the MCU is a character who was recently confirmed to be part of the Marvel Studios franchise. Netflix’s The Defenders Saga frequently mentioned movies and MCU characters; however, there was never a meaningful crossover between the shows and the rest of the MCU before their cancellation. Recently, it was confirmed by a Marvel executive that Netflix’s The Defenders Saga is officially MCU canon, which had already been assumed after Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio returned as Daredevil and Kingpin.

Finn Jones played Danny Rand in Netflix’s Iron Fist. Sadly, the character and his series were by far the most criticized of The Defenders Saga. As such, there is a chance that Marvel will recast Iron Fist if the MCU chooses to use him. As his Superman casting shows, Corenswet could play Danny Rand’s earnestness well, making his laid-back persona cool and not annoying like in the Netflix series.

5. Quasar

Marvel Has Laid The Ground For His Debut

Corenswet could play a very powerful MCU hero whenever Quasar debuts. Marvel has prepared for the character’s arrival in recent years through the exploration of powerful devices that relate to him, the Quantum Bands. The items first appeared in the MCU on Disney+’s Ms. Marvel, with Kamala Khan’s bangle, as she called it, unlocking her mutant gene. Then, The Marvels brought in the missing bangle and revealed the artifacts were none other than the Quantum Bands.

In the comics, Quasar was given the Quantum Bands by the cosmic being Eon, with Wendell Vaughn, aka Quasar, setting off to protect the universe with the devices. Quasar is an extremely powerful hero who works in space, making the role fit well for Superman actor Corenswet after he missed out on the MCU’s Adam Warlock. Quasar also played a key role in the story that inspires 2026’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, boosting his debut chances.

4. Silver Surfer

One Version Of The Character Has Been Cast

After multiple adaptations over the years, the MCU will finally see Marvel’s First Family come home. Marvel’s The Fantastic Four releases next year with an exciting team of heroes that includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The team is expected to go up against Galactus in the movie, with the cosmic being’s herald, the Silver Surfer, already cast.

However, there is a twist. Julia Garner will play the Shalla-Bal version of Silver Surfer in the film. The character is mostly known as the tragic love interest of the famous Silver Surfer, Norrin Radd, with Shalla-Bal only being the Silver Surfer in the Earth X Marvel Comics story. As Corenswet and Garner are 30, and the actor can play the Silver Surfer’s stoicism well, the Superman star could give life to the missing Silver Surfer, with rumors claiming both versions of the character will appear in The Fantastic Four.

3. Hyperion

The Character Would Be A Fun Nod To Superman

As DC’s new Superman actor, it would be fun to see Corenswet join the MCU in a one-off role for a major multiverse project. Marvel Studios is rumored to reboot the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars, and if that were to happen, Corenswet would be able to play a Marvel character that would be a fun nod to Superman while also leaving room for another actor to run with the role in the MCU after the reboot.

Corenswet could play Hyperion in the MCU. The character is one of the Superman-like heroes Marvel has, with Hyperion’s powers being very much in line with DC’s Man of Steel. Avengers: Secret Wars, or a possible Eternals sequel, as Hyperion is an Eternal, would serve as the perfect projects to see Corenswet using super strength, atomic vision — heat beams from his eyes — and flying around among MCU heroes.

2. Nova

Corenswet Could Finally Join The Guardians Of The Galaxy

While Corenswet failed to get the Adam Warlock role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the actor could still join the team in the future. Corenswet could play the MCU’s Richard Rider, aka Nova. In Marvel Comics, Nova has been a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy. James Gunn and some of the cosmic team’s original members might have left the MCU; however, a new Guardians of the Galaxy team assembled in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘s ending.

Whenever the Guardians of the Galaxy return, the team should include a couple more members, and Nova’s recent MCU teases make him a likely candidate. Thanos’ destruction of Xandar has left the path open for Marvel to explore Nova’s backstory. That could be done in the MCU’s Nova series, which is in development. Corenswet would excel as the confident hero that is the adult Richard Rider.

David Corenswet Could Be An MCU Leader

In the rare event that Corenswet gets to play a major ongoing role in the MCU alongside Superman over at DC, then the actor would be a fine choice for Cyclops in the MCU’s X-Men. James Marsden played the best version of Cyclops in live-action, but even he was done dirty after the first X-Men film, with Scott Summers’ role as the leader of the X-Men diminished in live-action so Wolverine could shine.

Thankfully, Marvel Studios’ X-Men ’97 is putting respect back on Cyclops’ name. The character is one of the standouts in the popular animated series, with Cyclops firmly acting as the field leader of the X-Men. David Corenswet could play the confident hero while adding some needed nuance to Cyclops, showing the character’s pain, and that he can still have fun despite his often-serious persona in the MCU’s X-Men reboot.
