“Should have done this 4 years ago”: Bob Iger’s New Marvel Plan Sounds Like a Downgrade to Most after Brie Larson’s The Marvels Debacle

Bob Iger’s new plan might not be enough for the MCU to recover after the failure of its recent movies and shows!

Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t what it used to be anymore. From failing movies to cringe scenes (just look at Thor: Love and Thunder), the MCU is suffering through the effects of post-Endgame clarity.

Disney’s current CEO, Bob Iger, recently unveiled a new plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe which seems good (at first). However, it is the majority opinion of the people that this new plan isn’t going to work.

Marvel Studios Isn’t What It Used To Be

Maybe it is a bold statement, or a rude one, but all things considered, there is quite a noticeable difference observed in the MCU before Avengers: Endgame and the MCU today. Releasing movies like selling cotton candies at a fair, the MCU simply had a lot on its plate (not even counting the TV shows).

This resulted in movies like Thor: Love and Thunder and Brie Larson’s The Marvels getting released. On the TV side, the MCU was doing quite well until She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The point is, that Marvel Studios has changed. Disney’s current CEO Bob Iger seems to have a solution for getting Marvel back on track. Announcing his plan, Iger stated that the MCU will release 2-3 movies per year and 2 TV shows per year.

And with that announcement, people simply couldn’t hold back their frustration. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), fans talked about how this should have been done 4 years ago and how the new plan would still end up disappointing them!

And as is the case with Marvel movies, the topic didn’t stop there. Although people talked about how the MCU should have done this right after the release of Avengers: Endgame, some people think that quantity does not matter at all.

Bob Iger’s New MCU Plan Won’t Matter

The phrase “Quality over quantity” comes to mind while talking about this subject. And that’s what all the people are saying about Marvel movies after Bob Iger’s announcement. The new plan will not work at all if the quality is the same as the current one. This is what a majority of people are agreeing to, as they took to X and stated that this plan simply won’t work without quality.

Fans also talked about how the then-DCEU also used to release one film per year but they still ended up with average ratings. Hence the statement “quality over quantity” should be the key point for Marvel Studios moving forward.

In the end, it is indeed a good thing that Marvel Studios is at least considering reducing the number of movies and shows that they put out each year. Hopefully, the MCU can get back on track and indeed try to focus more on quality.
