Secret Wars Reportedly Bringing Back Two Legacy Superheroes to Lead the Avengers Hints 2 Major Deaths are Coming

Marvel Studios alleged plan to call these legendary actors for Avengers: Secret Wars could be bad for their on-screen characters!

It is that time of the month again when rumors and theories regarding the MCU are created and spread on the internet. This time, it’s about Avengers: Secret Wars. With reports that the film will include two legendary superheroes to lead the Avengers, it might seem like good news at first. However, things might not be too good for the heroes!

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe especially calling these two legendary actors and their equally legendary heroic characters into the fold, it seems that the Avengers might be in danger. Well, who better to make the sacrificial lamb than two retiring heroes who might have run their course? But who are these heroes anyway? Sad to say, these two legendary actors and heroes are the ones that we know and love, and maybe, Secret Wars might be the end of their characters!

The Avengers Allegedly Need Backup From Two Legendary Superheroes!

Hugh Jackman will be recently seen starring alongside notable actor Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming MCU movie Deadpool & Wolverine which is almost on the verge of its release. With Jackman reprising his role of Wolverine, the portals between the MCU and the X-Men universe have opened fully, and that… brings other villains into the fold.

But we are not here to talk about villains. We are here to talk about legendary actor Hugh Jackman himself. Portraying the role of Wolverine since the first X-Men movie (titled X-Men, duh) back in 2000, Jackman has portrayed the character for 24 years now! Being one of the most beloved characters ever, it seems that the Avengers might need some adamantium claws by their side!

In a report by Express, it is alleged that Hugh Jackman has been called by Marvel Studios to reprise his role of Wolverine in Avengers: Secret Wars. However, Jackman is allegedly not coming alone. An equally legendary actor who portrayed the role of Spider-Man in Sam Raimi’s OG trilogy is coming with him!

The report further stated that alongside Jackman, Tobey Maguire will also reprise his role of Spider-Man in Avengers: Secret Wars. With both being veteran actors and their characters being old, it is reasonable to assume that the duo will probably lead the new team of Avengers to victory (alongside Doctor Strange and Thor probably). However, with the MCU bringing these mega stars to the field, it could mean some bad news for Wolverine and Spider-Man!

Wolverine And Spider-Man Might Not Make It Out Alive After Secret Wars!

Now comes the interesting part, where we connect theories to the realm of fiction, comics, and, the MCU. To start off, let’s go back to 2021 when you were watching Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters. Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man wanted a peaceful life and returned back to his world via the Doctor Strange portal and that was the end of his storyline (allegedly).

On the other hand, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine gave up his claws in the 2017 film Logan after which he didn’t pick up his claws ever since (until Deadpool & Wolverine). It seems that these two superheroes fighting side by side on the battlefield could indicate something much more than just playing team leader.

A theory states that Avengers: Secret Wars might mean the end of the characters of Wolverine and Spidey. Although this is just a theory, the evidence states that Wolverine’s journey had already been completed before (in Logan). The actor was reintroduced but it’s not the same Wolverine that we know of.

On the other hand, a heroic death would be a cathartic end for Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man. These deaths could indeed prove a very emotional connection with the audience and we hope that the MCU would decide to lay them down gently. As much as we would love to cry about our favorite superheroes, in the end, this remains nothing but a theory.

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine is slated for a release date of 26 July 2024 in theaters across the U.S.
