Sam Wilson’s Captain America Confronts an Alleged MCU Villain in Marvel Movie Art

Sam Wilson has been rumored to battle a new MCU villain in Captain America: Brave New World, which has now been imagined in a brilliant fan poster.

Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson faces off against a new rumored MCU villain in a dramatic fan-made poster for Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World. After Steve Rogers’ retirement in Avengers: Endgame, the original Captain America passed the mantle and shield on to Sam Wilson, who had been operating as the Falcon since 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Sam Wilson, though reluctant, officially became the MCU’s new Captain America during 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+, and is set to make his theatrical debut as the star-spangled man-with-a-plan in February 2025’s Captain America: Brave New World.

Captain America: Brave New World’s cast marks the returns of several actors from the MCU’s history, including Hulk-related characters such as Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross, Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns, a.k.a. the Leader, and Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the new President of the United States. Following the 2022 passing of William Hurt, Harrison Ford will assume the role of Thaddeus Ross, prompting theories that his transformation into the Red Hulk may be explored in Brave New World. This has now been imagined in a realistic fan-made poster shared by Hazzaa Jarrar, which depicts Sam Wilson in his new Captain America costume.

Will Red Hulk Actually Appear In Captain America: Brave New World

Speculations Rise Over the Red Hulk

The Red Hulk made his first appearance in Marvel Comics in 2008’s Hulk (Vol. 2) #1, but his human identity wasn’t revealed until 2010’s Fall of the Hulks: Gamma. In the MCU, the villainous Red Hulk has been rumored to be debuting for years, and Captain America: Brave New World seems to be the perfect place for the Red Hulk to finally make his way into live-action. William Hurt’s passing saw Harrison Ford cast as Thaddeus Ross, with many suggesting that casting a more active action star in the role implies a larger role for Ross in Brave New World.

Back in June 2023, Captain America: Brave New World set photos featured Harrison Ford seemingly sporting ripped pants, which led many to speculate whether he may have recently “Hulked-out”. As the new President of the United States, taking over from Dermot Mulroney’s President Ritson from Secret Invasion, Thaddeus Ross becoming the Red Hulk would create a strange and exciting dynamic between him and Sam Wilson’s Captain America. With so many Hulk-related characters set to appear in Captain America: Brave New World, it seems very likely that Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross is destined to finally become the highly-anticipated Red Hulk.
