RUMOR: Daredevil: Born Again Action Scenes Draws X-Men '97 Comparisons

A rumor for Daredevil: Born Again claims that an aspect of it has drawn comparisons to X-Men ’97. But this comparison isn’t the only bit of news.

Per The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez was asked if he had any teases about Muse and what type of villain he’ll be, as well as if he heard whether Born Again will feature “a one-take hallway sequence similar to the ones in the OG show.” Perez replied that what he’d heard about Muse is that his character will “fan the flames of chaos in the show,” adding, “He’ll be very sinister and deranged and will actually be an antagonist to not only Daredevil but also Kingpin, which will be an interesting dynamic to see play out.

“As for whether Born Again will feature a one-take hallway sequence similar to the ones in the OG show, I have heard many wonderful things about how the stunt and fight coordination teams worked on this show and the way it was done,” Perez continued. “If I had to explain how this show overall was approached, I would compare it to the way Marvel Animation approached X-Men ’97. They respect the original material, built up on it, and elevated it to a new standard which I’m sure fans will love.

Prior to this, leading man Charlie Cox teased his MCU future, commenting in May, “There will definitely come a time where I’m not able to do it anymore. But, for right now, just keep doing the best job we can and loving it. I feel incredibly grateful to continue making the show and, hopefully, we got another 10 years in us.”

Shifting the focus over to X-Men ’97, executive producer Brad Winderbaum conveyed that Season 3 is already in development, professing that just like X-Men: The Animated Series was “drafting so heavily from Chris Claremont’s work,” the production team is continuing that. As of now, however, plot details for Season 2 and Season 3 are under wraps.

Will There Be Crossovers In the Future of X-Men ’97?

Additionally, Winderbaum avowed that “[the] potential is always there” for X-Men ’97 to cross over with Marvel’s ’90s shows. Tying into this, supervising director Jake Castorena hinted at more Marvel cameos in upcoming episodes, affirming that the production team is allowed to choose any Marvel characters to cameo in episodes. More recently, X-Men: The Animated Series director Larry Houston praised X-Men ’97‘s cameo-based legacy, remarking that it is “fun to see my unauthorized use of cameos fully embraced by the highly-talented X-Men ’97 team, albeit now with full official clearances.”

Daredevil: Born Again will debut on Disney+ in March 2025. X-Men ’97 is streaming on Disney+.
