A new rumor from Insider Daniel Richtman claims that Marvel Studios is working on Midnight Sons movie, with a familiar MCU face attached to direct.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced a lot of superhero teams through its first five phases, such as the Avengers, the Defenders, and the Marvels. However, if a new rumor is to be believed, a new team might be on the way: the Midnight Sons.

Introduced by Marvel Comics in 1992, the Midnight Sons (or Midnight Suns) is a superhero team featuring Marvel’s supernatural characters like Blade, Morbius, and Ghost Rider. According to insider Daniel Richtman (via ComicBook.com), and first reported last year by the surprisingly accurate r/DCUleaks Twitter account, a Midnight Sons movie is rumored to be in development at Marvel Studios, with composer-turned filmmaker Michael Giacchino attached to direct. Giacchino previously directed Marvel’s critically acclaimed 2022 Disney+ special Werewolf by Night.

Rumors of a Midnight Sons movie arrived shortly after Oscar Isaac, who portrays the MCU’s Moon Knight, revealed during a panel at the Middle East Film and Comic Con that he would love to see the Midnight Sons enter the MCU. “I thought there was an interesting opportunity with Midnight Sons,” the actor said. “There’s such interesting characters in there, and now that we’ve set the groundwork with learning who Marc, Steven, Jake are, it could be an interesting opportunity to see him as part of a team and what that dynamic would be. So I think that would be exciting, I think for me, I definitely hope there’s some room to explore that possibility.”

Who Could Be Part of Midnight Sons?

Since Phase 4 of the MCU, Marvel has introduced more supernatural characters, with Werewolf by Night featuring several of them. In October 2023, digital artist Ben Solo Cup created an amazing fan poster that brought together Agatha Harkness from WandaVision, Elsa Bloodstone, Man-Thing, and Werewolf by Night from Werewolf by Night, Black Knight from Eternals, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, and Blade. With all of these characters already introduced in the MCU or set to debut over the next few years, this could very well be the roster for the Midnight Suns in the shared universe.

Marvel Studios Announces Fantastic Four Cast

Talk of a Midnight Sons movie also emerged right after Marvel Studios officially announced the cast for another superhero team, The Fantastic Four, with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn confirmed to be playing Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Johnny Storm/Human Torch, respectively, after months of rumors. The upcoming reboot movie, theorized to be set in the 1960s, is set to begin production later this year.

WandaVision, Moon Knight and Werewolf by Night are streaming on Disney+. Blade is currently scheduled to open in theaters on Nov. 7, 2025.
