X-Men ’97 episode 4, set to continue a few big mutant storylines, receives a small tweak in release time in a certain area of the world.

Cyclops Looks to the Right and the X-Men Prepare for Battle in X-Men 97

X-Men ’97 episode 4 brings back some well-known Marvel figures while continuing an overarching story arc. X-Men ’97‘s first three episodes have been a massive success, as the 2024 continuation of the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series gives the titular team a drastic overhaul in terms of visuals, sound, and dialog. Taking up where the original show left off, X-Men ’97 revisits major storylines and gives each hero and villain their well-deserved time in the spotlight — not to mention all the easter eggs and references in every X-Men ’97 episode.

Previously in X-Men ’97, Storm lost her mutant abilities, while the rest of the X-Men met Jean Grey’s clone, Madelyne Pryor. With Bishop taking Nathan Summers to the future and Storm meeting Forge in X-Men ’97 episode 3’s ending, everything is ready for the X-Men’s next challenge in X-Men ’97 episode 4, “Motendo/ Lifedeath – Part 1”. Tensions will only rise with every episode, however, as X-Men ’97‘s weekly format means only one episode is released each Wednesday, and viewers might need to stay up late or wake up early to catch them as soon as they release.

X-Men ’97 episode 4 will be available on Disney+ on Wednesday, April 3, at 12:00 A.M. PT, 3:00 A.M. ET, and 8:00 A.M. BST. Previous episodes were released at 7:00 A.M. GMT, but following the United Kingdom’s daylight saving time on Sunday, March 31st, viewers in the UK need to remember that X-Men ’97 episode 4 will release an hour later than usual.

X-Men: Episode 4Motendo / Lifedeath – Part 1″ seems to follow two parallel storylines. The fourth episode’s title suggests it’s taking inspiration from at least two story arcs from the source material. However, one of these storylines appears to be divided in two, with the second half coming to a climax in X-Men ’97 episode 6, which will be available on April 17.

What To Expect From X-Men ’97 Episode 4

X-Men ’97 Has Been Setting Up Big Changes

X-Men ’97 episode 4, “Motendo / Lifedeath – Part 1” provides two clear hints at its plot. In Marvel Comics, Storm stars in the storyline Lifedeathwhere she bonds with the mutant Forge after she loses her powers to a mutation inhibitor device. However, Storm finds out an uncomfortable truth about her power loss, leading her to part ways with Forge and go on a quest of self-discovery on her own. Marvel’s Lifedeath storyline is one of the most influential parts of Storm’s journey as a hero, and it seems like X-Men ’97‘s modernized Storm will experience the same sequence of events.

Meanwhile, “Motendo” teases the return of X-Men villain Mojo. Mojo was last seen in a cameo during X-Men: The Animated Series season 4 episode 11 after his primary antagonist roles in X-Men; The Animated Series season 2 episode 11, “Mojo”, and X-Men; The Animated Series season 5 episode 5, “Longshot”. The title “Motendo” may be a wordplay on “Mojo” and “Nintendo”, which would suggest that Mojo will attempt to imprison the X-Men in a videogame rather than a TV show. If Mojo returns, it’s possible that former Mojo victim and X-Men ally Longshot will return in X-Men ’97 episode 4.
