With the character set to soon come back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jon Bernthal has just teased the Punisher’s Daredevil: Born Again return.
Jon Bernthal has taken to social media to tease his return as the Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again. After an impactful role in Daredevil season 2 and leading two seasons of The Punisher in Netflix’s The Defenders Saga, Bernthal will return as part of the cast of Daredevil: Born Again, set firmly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, the actor has teased his MCU return as Frank Castle, raising excitement for Daredevil: Born Again.
On Instagram, Bernthal shared a photo of the fictional book “One Batch, Two Batch” used in Netflix’s The Defenders Saga for Punisher’s story, teasing his MCU return.
The book was the one Castle read to his daughter, with the character taking one of his most iconic lines from the Netflix Marvel shows from it. While Punisher, or someone pretending to be him, was spotted among the many Daredevil: Born Again set photos, Bernthal still has to be seen sporting his Punisher logo again, and the actor’s tease might mean that will happen soon.
What We Know About Jon Bernthal’s Punisher Return In The MCU
Frank Castle Returns Soon
In March 2023, Bernthal was reported to return as the Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again. The actor will join multiple other returning stars from Netflix’s The Defenders Saga, which include Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, and more. As Bernthal’s Punisher made his debut in Daredevil season 2, it makes sense for the anti-hero to return in Daredevil: Born Again.
While details of Bernthal’s Punisher role are being kept under wraps, a rumor about what the MCU series might hold for the character has gained strength after a Daredevil: Born Again set video. In the video, a character using the Punisher’s skull logo can be seen murdering a hero. Daredevil: Born Again has been rumored to feature an arc where corrupt cops would misuse the Punisher’s logo, and the video appears to confirm that some sort of impersonator plot is at play, as Frank Castle would not have snuck around to kill his target instead of facing them head-on.
Bernthal’s Punisher could also be unleashed if the biggest Daredevil: Born Again rumor pans out. For months now, it has been rumored that Foggy Nelson and Karen Page would have died off-screen in the original version of the Daredevil series. However, the characters are still very much in danger despite returning for the new series after its creative overhaul. Set videos and photos have shown Bullseye shooting in the direction of Karen and Foggy. Due to their close bond, Bernthal’s Punisher would be back with a bloodlust if anything happened to Karen Page in Daredevil: Born Again.
