This week, Kate Middleton clarified that she’s taking things at her own speed. While performing her duties as a royal, the Princess of Wales posted a brief update on her fight with cancer in an Instagram Story.

British royal family news reveals that Princess Catherine is beloved for her humble, down to earth demeanor. But now comes word that the royal may have been a little too stoic prior to her cancer diagnosis and subsequent preventative chemotherapy.

According to InStyle, Kate Middleton “hid her suffering well” with royal expert Rebecca English writing that “What most will not appreciate is that Catherine had actually been unwell for some time in the run up to her initial abdominal surgery in January.”

The surgery was described as routine, but in February the royal announced that cancer had been found and she has been away from frontline royal duties since then.

Kate was hospitalized for two weeks following her January operation. An inside source added Kate went through a lot behind the scenes: “She’s an incredibly strong woman, but she really has been through the wars.”

Not everyone was kind, graceful, or forgiving after Kate’s heartbreaking announcement. Multiple celebrities made fun of her, with Blake Lively and Kim Kardashian publicly shading the mother of three. Because what says compassion more than the bullying of a cancer patient?

Meghan Markle has also been accused of bullying Kate on more than one occasion. She used a slur to refer to Kate during the infamous 2021 Oprah whine-a-thon and this spring issued an urgent infomercial the same day of Catherine’s first public appearance in June, at Trooping the Colour.

Kate’s second appearance came at Wimbledon in July and internet trolls went to town dissecting Kate’s appearance.

All of the nasty, caustic, and rude commentary about Kate’s ongoing situation is inappropriate and has “added an unbearable layer of strain to their lives, one that has proved to be downright distressing at times,” English explained.

Kate is expected to summer with the family at Balmoral where she can be at ease with her loved ones who are doing everything they can to take care of her. In a recently released video Kate stated that she is not “out of the woods yet.”

English thinks that Kate may continue with treatment beyond the summer. There is no timeline for Kate to return to a busy schedule or what her new workload might look like. English thinks the process won’t be rushed and Kate’s comfort will drive the progress.

For now the Wales family, Kate, William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis “are enjoying a fabulous summer in Norfolk. Spending time outside and with loved ones “has put color back in all their cheeks.”
