Prince William and Prince Harry’s falling-out is ‘very bad’ – but not ‘irreparable’: report

There may still be hope for Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship.

A source close to the situation told People on Wednesday that although their rift is “very bad,” it’s not “irreparable.”

Cracks in the brothers’ relationship first became apparent in 2016 when it was reported that William had concerns with the pace of Harry’s relationship with his now-wife, Meghan Markle.

The last time the brothers publicly appeared as a united pair was following Queen Elizabeth II’s death in September 2022.

Harry, 39, previously gave some insight into his relationship with William, 42, in his memoir, ”Spare,” when he recalled several of their altercations over the years.

In 2020’s “Battle of Brothers: William and Harry: The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult,” British historian Robert Lacey chronicled their feud, saying that the rift between was sealed by fate since William allegedly adopted his father’s sense of duty, while Harry adopted an attitude of not making the “same mistake” as their parents.

The divide between Harry and the rest of the royal family was first made public when he and Markle, 42, resigned from their roles as a senior members in 2020 and moved to the US.

And now, just like their father, King Charles II, William has reportedly been avoiding all calls, texts and messages from his younger brother, who is attempting to reconnect amid his battle for security for his family.

People reported Wednesday that the monarch has stopped talking to Harry, with a source telling the outlet, “He gets ‘unavailable right now.’”

“His calls go unanswered. He has tried to reach out about the king’s health, but those calls go unanswered, too,” they added, referring to the announcement of Charles’ cancer diagnosis in February.

In 2022, Harry petitioned the UK government to receive protection in the UK. However, that request was denied in February.

Earlier this month, Harry said in ITV’s “Tabloids on Trial” documentary that the security issue was the primary factor in his decision not to bring his wife back to England.

“Harry is frightened and feels the only person who can do anything about it is his father,” a royal insider told People Wednesday.

“Harry is determined to protect his own family at all costs,” said another source close to the situation.

A royal insider previously told Page Six last week that the only way for Harry and Charles to reconcile would be for the monarch to give Harry the security clearance “he wants so desperately.”

“As the monarch, he is the ultimate decision maker. That would be how father and son can reconcile,” said the source.

The insider went on to share that it would be “swords down” if the matter of security was resolved, adding that nothing “would give [Harry] more happiness than being able to rekindle his bond with his father.”

However, a source noted to People that the belief that Harry’s security is in Charles’ hands is “wholly incorrect.”
