Prince Harry has been urged to admit he ‘made a mistake’ if he hopes to reconcile with his family

As tensions continue to flare between Prince Harry and the royal family following his highly critical memoir Spare and tell-all Netflix documentary series alongside wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, one royal expert has revealed that the Duke may have a chance to reconcile with his family – but only if he admits he ‘made a mistake.’

Harry and Meghan famously stepped back from royal life in 2020 in order to move to the United States, and since then the couple have launched numerous attacks against their estranged relatives, causing a major rift between them, particularly his father King Charles and brother Prince William.

This rift was made all the more apparent, by the Duke’s continued absence from several milestone events amidst his father and sister in law the Princess of Wales’ cancer battles, such as their recent appearance at Trooping the Colour last month.

However, despite the friction, hope isn’t completely lost for a reconciliation, as the monarch’s former butler,Grant Harrold believes there’s one thing Harry could do to build some bridges and reunite with his family once and for all.

Speaking to the New York Post, Grant revealed: “The only way I see this happening is a public statement from Harry, where you come out and say that you were in a bad space and that [Spare] was a mistake.”

Yet while the olive branch could signal a huge step towards reclaiming his old life, Grant believes that it’s unlikely that Harry will be willing to bite the bullet and make such a gesture. “I don’t think that’s going to happen,” he admitted.

“Some bad things were said, and some families never patch things up, and that’s how it is forevermore,” he said, adding that Harry “will regret” the things he wrote in his book.

The former butler also went on to add that the Duke, who has been busy focusing on his charity work in recent months, “has got a big heart”, before saying that “a part of him probably wishes things would be different.”

Crucially, Harrold also went on to explain that while Harry may one day be able to reconcile with his father, he doesn’t believe that the Duke and Duchess will ever be able to reconcile with the Prince and Princess of Wales, stating that “too much damage” had been done.

“[Harry] caused damage and broke down trust,” he suggested. “I doubt they’ll ever get back the relationship they had originally.”
