Prince Harry ‘hurt’ by Royal Family as relationship in tatters upon his return to UK

The Duke of Sussex is not returning to the UK for his uncle’s funeral.

Prince Harry has “dug himself a hole” as his Royal Family relationships are in tatters upon his return to the UK, GB News’s Royal Correspondent claimed.

Cameron Walker and Svar Nanan-Sen, GB News’s Digital Royal Editor, sat down for this week’s episode of The Royal Record podcast, discussing the Duke of Sussex’s return trips to the UK.

Prince Harry, 39, is not returning to the UK for his uncle’s funeral, Lord Robert Fellowes, unlike Prince William who is expected to attend.

Lord Fellowes was the former private secretary to Queen Elizabeth II and also the husband of Lady Jane Fellowes, Princess Diana’s older sister.

The Royal Correspondent said: “Any event Prince Harry returns to, questions are asked: ‘Will he see the King? Will he see Prince William?’

“It’s the same family story over and over again.

“Whatever Prince Harry does when he comes back to the UK, and perhaps he’s dug a little bit of a hole for himself here.

“Clearly, Prince Harry feels hurt by his family, he feels hurt that his security was downgraded, and he feels he’s been hard done by.

“But it’s really tricky to see how the situation resolves, particularly around security, until we get this decision by the Court of Appeal.

“Because at the moment, we are waiting for that decision whether or not they will change the security, if it was unlawful.”

In June, it was announced that the Duke of Sussex will be able to appeal against a High Court ruling which dismissed his challenge over a decision to downgrade his level of personal security when he visits the UK.

Prince Harry first took legal action against the Home Office in 2020 over a decision that he should receive a different degree of taxpayer-funded protection after he and his wife Meghan Markle stepped back from life as working royals.

In February, the High Court ruled that the decision was lawful and dismissed Harry’s case, before in April refusing him permission to challenge that ruling in a higher court.

But the Court of Appeal said in June that it will hear his challenge following a direct application from Harry’s lawyers.

In the podcast, Svar added: “Something you touched on there about Harry – whenever he comes to the UK, there is this big story around will he see his family or won’t he?

Harry last visited the UK in May to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games

“Harry himself has felt the need to clarify that.

“In May, when he returned, he issued a statement saying that he would not be seeing King Charles due to a schedule clash and because the King’s diary was full.

“So Harry himself is aware that when he comes back to the UK, there is a huge amount of interest as to what his relationships are with his family, and whether he will be seeing any of them.”
