The Firm’s focus for the rest of the 2020s, until 2030, will be on the next generation of royals and how they will shape the future of the monarchy.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now out on a limb and are no longer a concern for the Firm
King Charles and Queen Camilla have convened this summer’s “Balmoral summit” to discuss the future of the Royal Family.
Express.co.uk revealed earlier this month that one of the main points of discussion at this summer’s gathering will be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their future association with the Royal Family.
Now, sources reveal that the Firm’s focus for the rest of the 2020s, until 2030, will be on the next generation of royals and how they will shape the future of the monarchy.
“The strategy now is to move away from focusing on what the Sussexes are doing and place an emphasis on the next generation of royals,” said the source.
“There is very much a feeling of not dwelling on the past but moving forward with the assets they’ve got which are the younger members of the Royal Family.
“King Charles is very aware that the younger generation is the future of the monarchy and his focus is to ensure that its legacy remains once he has gone – and that can be secured in the Wales era.”
Prince William, Princess Kate, Princess Anne, the Tindalls, Edinburghs and even the Yorks are currently at the Scottish estate for talks, but they are not said to be deemed “the future of the monarchy”.
The source adds that despite a focus being heavily placed upon the direct line of succession, there will also be unofficial roles created for the likes of Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor, James Wessex and even Mike and Zara Tindalls’ children along with Peter Phillips’ two daughters.
“The future of the Royal Family doesn’t just hinge on the Wales family,” said the source. “But also on other members of the Royal Family that hold a visible profile in this country and around the world.
“It’s all about building a brand and the family recognises that.”
Express.co.uk exclusively revealed on Thursday that Prince Harry’s position as fifth in line to the throne could be in jeopardy due to his permanent residence outside the UK and absence of royal duties.
According to a source, discussions at the Royal Family’s summit at Balmoral may not only address Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s titles but could also consider removing them from the order of succession.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their decision to step down as senior working royals in January 2020, stating that they planned to “work to become financially independent”.
However, shortly after taking up residency in the United States, the couple embarked on what was described as a “royal bashing session” where they appeared on a chat with Oprah Winfrey, filmed a documentary for Netflix and Harry slated his family in his memoir, Spare.
The couple reportedly further angered the Royal Family when they undertook a tour of Colombia recently which saw them visit the South American country to shine a light on cyberbullying and female empowerment.
