Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have teased an exciting future for their children

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle caused quite the stir as they released the first picture of their children in years.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet appeared on the family’s 2024 Christmas card, with the youngsters seen from behind as they ran towards their parents. Fans were quick to comment on how much Archie and Lilibet have grown as they admired the snap.

In the touching picture, the Duchess of Sussex was seen grinning at five-year-old Archie while Harry crouched down to greet three-year-old Lilibet. The release of the Christmas card has sparked speculation among fans that the Sussexes may be preparing to share more of their children very soon.

According to a source, the Sussex children might attend the Invictus Games’ opening ceremony in Vancouver next year with their mom and dad, potentially marking their first-ever public outing.

Speaking to The Express about the event, which will take place on February 8, the source said, “Harry and Meghan are planning to take Archie and Lilibet to help promote a new ‘family-friendly’ Invictus Games.”

It appears the Sussexes have dived headfirst into the planning aspects of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler, pushing for a more inclusive event where competitors can bring their kids along.

Fans should look forward to the possibility of spotting Archie and Lilibet among the crowds, as the source highlighted, “The Sussexes have been very involved with the organizational elements of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler events and it was very much their idea to make this a family-friendly games so that those taking part can bring their children along.”

Should Archie and Lilibet appear in public, it would signal a significant change for Harry and Meghan who have shielded their children’s privacy. Earlier this year, a source close to the Sussexes confided to People magazine, “Harry has been reluctant to show his children publicly, not out of a desire to hide them but to protect their privacy and safety from potential threats. He wants them to lead as normal a life as possible without the fear of kidnapping or harm.”

In a candid admission at The New York Times DealBook Online Summit on December 4, Harry also expressed his appreciation for his new life in the U.S., asserting: “I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here. It’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live.”

He continued to praise his current lifestyle, stating, “I feel as though it’s the life that my mom wanted for me. To be able to do the things I’m able to do with my kids that I undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the U.K. – it’s huge. That is a fantastic opportunity and I’m hugely grateful for that.”

Despite being in line for the throne, Archie and Lilibet have barely set foot in the U.K. and thus have limited interaction with their royal relatives, including their grandfather King Charles, uncle and aunt Prince William and Kate Middleton, and cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Harry and Meghan stepped away from the royal family in January 2020, less than two years after their wedding. They are now virtually estranged from Harry’s family after levelling several criticisms at the monarchy – in their Oprah Winfrey interview, their Netflix docuseries, and in Spare.
