Netflix has officially renewed Outer Banks for a fifth and final batch of episodes prior to the release of season 4, part 2. The streaming service will drop five new installments of the adventure drama on November 7, which will see the group of friends continue their treasure hunt in Morroco. The main cast includes Chase Stokes as John B, Madelyn Cline as Sarah, Madison Bailey as Kiara, Rudy Pankow as JJ, Jonathan Daviss as Pope, Carlacia Grant as Cleo, and Drew Starkey as Rafe.

Despite finding the legendary city of El Dorado and receiving $1,172,549, the Pogues are at a financial loss. They overpay for the Maybank land and lose the gold reserved for property taxes when JJ bets on himself in a motorbike race. Wes Genrette’s proposal to find and deliver Blackbeard’s gold appears to be their only option, but as they learned on their previous journey, no treasure hunt is without emotional cost.

Screen Rant interviews Cline and Bailey about how they’d spend the gold from El Dorado, Kiara’s relationship with JJ in Outer Banks season 4, and what skills are most useful during the Pogues’ newest adventure.

Kiara Wants To Support JJ In Outer Banks Season 4

“Sometimes, it’s the people pushing you away that need the love the most.”

Screen Rant: If you went on a treasure hunt, and you ended up with the same amount of gold as the Pogues, what is the first thing that you would buy?

Madison Bailey: I’m the opposite of Kiara. I’m just going to put it all in savings, and we’ll see it later.

Madelyn Cline: I’m going to do something crazy. I’m going to buy a boat.

Madison Bailey: Now I don’t have to. I can just go on your boat. The best boat is someone else’s boat.

JJ and Kiara are a couple in season 4. What can you tease about the highs and possible lows of that relationship?

Madison Bailey: I think we have some really solid highs. You’re seeing everything for the first time. Some lows are that JJ is going through a lot, and Kiara is really trying to navigate how to be there. Sometimes, it’s the people pushing you away that need the love the most. Kiara’s finding that spot in her heart and finding that balance of trying to advise him, but just being there for him.

The Pogues Are More Experienced Treasure Hunters In Outer Banks Season 4

“We’ve [traveled] by boat a good bit, and I think we’ve really figured out how to do that.”

What have Sarah and Kiara learned in previous seasons that will help them on their current treasure hunt?

Madison Bailey: I think our mode of transportation. We’ve [traveled] by boat a good bit, and I think we’ve really figured out how to do that. We get there. We get to where we’re going.

Madelyn Cline: We do. If there’s one thing about us, we will get there.

Madison Bailey: They probably pack band-aids now and an emergency kit, maybe.

Madelyn Cline: They’ve become a little bit more experienced now. We’re maybe a little bit more efficient at planning.

About Outer Banks Season 4

Created by Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke

Madelyn Cline as Sarah in Outer Banks season 4

Following last season’s 18-month flash-forward showing Wes Genrette’s proposal for the Pogues to find Blackbeard’s treasure, Season 4 takes us back in time to the lead-up of that moment. After finding the gold at El Dorado, the Pogues return to the OBX and commit to having a “normal” life. They’ve built themselves a new safe haven, officially dubbed “Poguelandia 2.0”, where they live together and run a fairly successful bait, tackle, and charter tour shop.

But after some financial setbacks, John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope, and Cleo take Wes up on his offer, drawn back into the “G” game for a whole new adventure. But before they know it, they’re well in over their heads, with dangerous new enemies hot on their heels racing them to the treasure. Meanwhile, their problems are only growing, and they’re forced to question their past, present, and future – who they really are, has it all been worth it, and how much are they willing to risk?
