“Not a bad idea”: Even Fans are Invested After Ryan Gosling Expresses Interest in Marvel Superhero We All Wanted Keanu Reeves to Play

Is Ryan Gosling the one to bring Johnny Blaze to the MCU?

The idea of Marvel bringing the Ghost Rider back to the big screen after Nicolas Cage left it back in 2011 has been brewing for a long, long time. Cage himself was pretty interested in coming back to play the King of Hell again, but that didn’t pan out. Since then, fans have been putting forward names of their faves to play the role, with Keanu Reeves and Ryan Gosling being two of the more popular choices.

The Ken actor himself bought him into the mix when he previously said that he would like to play Ghost Rider. Even Kevin Feige seems to have given a positive response to Ryan Gosling expressing his interest in dabbling in the superhero genre. But has things gotten any further since then?

Does The Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider Train Have Movement?

It’s been a while since Ryan Gosling expressed his wish to play the King of Hell in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Josh Horowitz. Since then, in Horowitz’s own words, he has been trying his best “to help Ryan Gosling to realize his dreams – namely Ghost Rider.”

Recently, during a conversation with Gosling and his The Fall Guy co-star, Emily Blunt, Horowitz once again started on the topic of the actor playing the Marvel role, and if there has been any progress in the matter. Telling Blunt about the whole thing during the same interview, Gosling said: This was a magical moment. I told Josh I would like to play Ghost Rider. He found Kevin Feige, corners him, does an interview with him. When he says, ‘I would like this,’ all the lights go off.

Unfortunately, things aren’t looking to be going anywhere at the moment. When Horowitz asked Gosling if he was able to make any magic happen, he answered with a pretty simple “I don’t know.” Oh well, we can only hope this train leaves the station someday, and we get some Johnny Blaze action on screen once more.

Alongside Keanu Reeves, who is probably the favorite choice among fans to play Johnny Blaze, Ryan Gosling comes a close second. And after he himself spoke of his interest in playing the role, fans were even more excited. Taking to social media, they were quick to announce their excitement over the matter.

Some fans are even speculating if he has already gotten the part. Coincidentally, Gosling’s wife, Eva Mendes played the role of Johnny Blaze’s love interest in the Nic Cage Ghost Rider duology. It would be fun if her husband got to play the role now.

The Nic Cage Ghost Rider movies are available for streaming on Fubo TV.
